Today's Yahoo Canada pool about religion

My friend lives in New York, he broke his hand it cost him $2500 to get it fixed. Here you pay nothing for brain surgeries if you need one. USA medical system is most expensive and disgusting money grabber in the world. If best metal musician ( IMHO ) Chuck Schuldiner died because he could not afford life saving surgery that tells a lot about medical care in USA. Had he been in Canada he may have still lived.

So your entire arguement above is that the best medical care in the world = free. Nice to know that no other qualifications such as quality, availability, options...are needed. Just be free.

Depends on one's definition of spirituality and being religious, but I do not call myself religious.. I call myself spiritual.

For me, the difference is I believe in Jesus Christ/God, but I don't subscribe to all the religious (legalistic) stuff. In the way I think, being spiritual is being kind toward others and making an attempt of having the heart of Christ. In my mind, religion separates people, causes us to judge others by our own standard, and creates division based on works.

(None of that was in any way a slight at any group, whatsoever.)

IN my previous post I was using religious to = identifying with a denomination. I know many spiritual people that do not adhere to any denomination.

Opinion
Prove it
.

seriously? so you want to argue that medical care in Canada is not free? lol

here is article about STDs ( Key Facts
The United States has the highest STD rates of any
country in the industrialized world. )

I agree that beer, skiing, fishing hunting can be subjective, but when most americans come to us for their best fishing/hunting experience/trophies that tells a lot.

I'm not saying I like the U.S. medical system by any means, but the Canadian model has to be one of the worst.
So you pay nothing for brain surgeries, but how long does it take you to receive said brain surgery?
The problem with U.S. healthcare lies at the hand of irresponsible money lending and insane money printing by the Fed.
Not to mention the healthcare lobbyists that control the politicians.

Did you even read what I put? I never once questioned that is was free. I just called out the shallowness of equating free healthcare as being the best in the world. You ignored several other factors such as quality, availability (access), medical options and after visit care.

I never once contested that canadian healthcare was free or not. If you are going to argue with me then please actually pay attention.

They're here ONLY for the better quality of doctors.

We talk about general medical system affordability. I am not saying that Canadian system is perfect or that our doctors are better, waiting lines to see specialist sometimes can be ridiculous, but when it is free you can't argue much about it. See my original post , I said free medical system - to me it is better then overpriced USA system which will eat all your life savings if you get seriously sick.

Different people like living in different places for different reasons. I choose to live in Canada (as opposed to the US, where I also have citizenship) because I prefer living in Canada. Getting into a pissing match about which country is "better" would make me more American than I care to be.

And he's arguing against the costs of health care. The government taking your money to pay for things instead of you paying for them doesn't make the thing free in any sense of the word. For the person who never would have been able to afford the care they get means for them they got a little something for free, but obviously that means other people pay for something they don't get.

And look who started it:)... anyway we should go back to original pool numbers and discuss it.

Then why you put it in bold?

Your entire arguement with your New York example was that the Canadian heathcare was better simply because it was free. That is a very shallow arguement. I never questioned that is was free.

So again no you did not pay attention to what you were replying to.

Never said it is best in the world. Better then USA's for most of the people due to affordability. Of course if you are millioner USA has better to offer. But even Kobe Bryant went to get his knee treated in Germany.

Your original reply to my post put some of my words in bold and asked me to prove it. Free medical care was one of them. Not sure who is not paying attention here.

What province is that in?

So again your only qualification for that is that it is free.

Free doe snot mean it is better. It helps, dont get me wrong, but if I have to pay some for better quality, availability, better options and after visit care then I will happily do so.

I would absolutely love to live in Canada as I feel my values are closer to their average than America's. But I have job stability and a 6 figure income, and I'd have to have that before I even consider it.
