Game #1: Jazz vs Mavericks, 10/31/12 - 7:00 PM MST - Root Sports, 1280 AM/97.5 FM

I don't see why anybody should stop with that suggestion. Even Karl Malone called for it on NBATV a few weeks ago.
Does it matter that he won't be the teams starting point guard?
The kid can flat out handle the ball, can run the offense and create his own shot.
Burks should be swinging from point to shooting guard throughout the game.
Once he ups his BBIQ a little, and learns when to take certain shots he'll be elite already.
He already gets to the free throw line at will, see Wade, Dwayne.

Karl Malone is an idiot.

Burks is not a great ball handler

Has not once shown he can run the offense

Needs a lot more than good shot selection to become elite

God awful idiotic post.

I don't know if Malone is the best strategic thinker out there. I wouldn't really trust his opinion on this subject.

Maybe.... maybe not, but the guy spent almost 20 years under Jerry Sloan, and actually Barkley has hinted at this too.

What is the point of having your lottery pick SG play 14 minutes as a back up PG? It's a waste of youth and development time for a relatively minor role that he's not suited for. Tinsley can run the floor much better, and that can provide more opportunities for Favors and Kanter. And even if Burks actually proves a more useful back PG than Tinsley (possible), that is still a waste.

I really don't see him playing back up for very much longer, and I definitely believe a Dwayne Wade type comparison is perfect for what Burks can become.
The problem with the Jazz's youth and development, is the way they always hold players back.... something the Miami Heat do not struggle with.
Burks is not a back up point guard, nor is he a back up shooting guard.
He's a combo guard that can play either guard position, can creat his own shot, and get to the rim and foul line at will.
If the Jazz continue to put a player like that on the back burner, then I guess they are digging that proverbial grave.
Tinsley and Watson are great guys to have on your bench, but in no way should they be receiving more minutes than a core guy.
Remember Milt Palacio playing more minutes than Deron Williams?

As a young player with a lot of potential, Burks should be utilized correctly or traded. There is no reason to kill his chances of having a good career just to keep him around for a few out of position minutes here and there. It's just cruel.

It is cruel, and that's why the Jazz either give him a meaningful chance or make a trade for players they actually will play.

Thanks for your incite, but your post earns the right of "God awful idiotic post" for your lack of punctuation and sentence structure alone.

You do realize there are only so many available minutes in a game? Not every player the Jazz have can play all the time. They should trade a 2nd year player with huge upside just because he didn't get in one game though. Smart move.

Burks fans: which game should we look back at that shows his abilities best? I cannot remember any stellar performances. Not trolling, it is an honest question.

Burks is elite at getting to the line. He has clear areas he needs to improve such as shooting (which he showed that he may have improved in the preseason), passing, playing smart D...

Watch the highlights of the win @ lakers last season

Just got home from a 3 country trip.

About to watch the game, and kick back with a Austrian pony keg of some Märzen.

Reading through this thread I'm not too excited to watch this game. Doesn't seem like there was too many highlight plays.

I had as much fun watching the 2nd half as I did watching many games last season. The Jazz are a legit 3 point threat this year. Both Williams' and Foye can light it up back there. It's almost too much to fathom.

The game threads on RealGM and what not are freaking out about the refs. Dallas fans got pretty butt hurt.

Cuban looked like he was about to have an aneurism from the stands the way he was screaming about the refs.

Dallas fans are a bunch of whiny bitches in the first place so it's no shock they'd moan about the refs. They hardly mention that Dallas was absolutely destroyed on the boards. Especially the offensive glass. Damn the Jazz whipped them there.

Burks was huge in saving the game at the Kings last year too.

Screw Jamaal... just kidding.. but I don't see why we can't run Foye at PG and Burks backup SG. Would it be a drop off? I think not

Haha, I'm not freaking out or anything. All I'm saying is this better not continue, or Burks will demand a trade.
Favors already looks like he's getting down on himself for lack of minutes.
I just hope Kanter can continue to keep his energy up for the lack of minutes I thought he received as well.
Millsap had a horrible shooting percentage for the game, and deserved less minutes for the situation.
