Fun Facts:

Al Jefferson has attempted whole 6 FTs this entire season. He has 2 games where he did not attempt a single FT (SA & NO).

He has never attempted more than 2 in a single game this year.

In the Jazz game alone, Kobe Bryant attempted nearly 6 times as many FTs than Al Jefferson has this entire year.

Lets put this into perspective. Tonight, Boom Bitches shot 4 FTs. Faried, 10.

Jefferson is averaging a grand 1.7 FT attempts per game.

Comparable bigs?

Tim Duncan at age 80 brings his walker into the arena and averages 4.8 attempts per game

Zebo 5

Luis Scola 2.7

And that's just from the western conference. Luis Scola averages more FT attempts and all he does is rebound and shoot jumpers. Boom Bitches for crying out loud is averaging more FT attempts and he's never posted up in his life! I'm pretty sure Sideshow Bob (who is probably never used offensively) is the only starting C/PF with worse FT attempt avgs than Big Al.

this is coming from our #1 post option??? The anchor of our offense? The focal point? And he has the exact same amount of FT attempts as ****ing Nick Collison???

No wonder why we have a losing record.

Until he is traded or benched, this team isn't moving anywhere.
 
Come on, give him a break. He is so busy to shot his most reliable 15-17 foot jumper which he hit "reasonably" at high percentage. Stats don`t lie.

Stats also don't lie about the fact that players that are active in the paint tend to get fouled more. You don't always get fouled in the act of shooting - you get foul going for loose balls, you get fouled on put backs, you get fouled being aggressive. Karl Malone was basically a mid range jump shooter the last 4 years of his career and he spent plenty of time on the line.

Which leads me to my next point - pump fakes. Al Jefferson pump fakes so god damn much that he's turned it into a useless exercise. NOBODY bites on his pump fakes anymore. The fact that he's never fouled is a testament to that. Almost every single ****ing shot that he takes leads with wasted movement - even if he's wide open. And the few times he gets the defender out of position, he uses that opportunity to weave around him, instead of taking it hard to the basket.

I don't know if he's always been this way or if he just started playing like this after he blew his ACL. But when you're on the road and you're playing from behind, you need opportunities to score with the clock stopped. Big Al is a "go-to" guy who doesn't give you that opportunity. That's a problem.

Good post.

Al just isnt active enough. He doesnt hustle one bit. Thats a huge problem. His lazyness screws all of our rotations up, offensively and defensively.

Something haunting....

Memo's rookie year he matched the avg of FT attempts that Big Al is attempting... His rookie year...

Memo... Known for his outside shot and not post up game routinely averaged between 3-5 FTs per game as a Jazz player. In fact, in 4 years he averaged nearly 5 FTs per game as a Jazz.

In just his second year in the Jazz's offense shot over twice as many FTs as Al Jefferson did in his second year in the Jazz's offense. This is freaking Memo for crying out loud.

Compare that to Al, who has never averaged more than 3.5 with the Jazz and has been going steadily down ever since.

Folks.

Al Jefferson is on pace to shoot about as many FTs as Nick Collison.

That's great. If Al Jefferson were played 10 mins and never ever ever had a play run for him like Collison.

This is our #1 option. Our #1 post guy. And he's playing ahead of Favors and Kanter....

His offense is built on avoiding contact and a soft touch, so even when he is fouled he has reputation of being a post player that is constantly moving to avoid contact rather than embracing it. Jefferson's game is modeled after McHale. How many times did McHale get to the line compared to Malone?
