Well, one of the prerequisites for separation here in Canada is actually wanting to separate. Quite a reasonable one, I find.

I'm talking about the fact that there are currently no defined mechanisms allowing a state to separate, whereas in Canada, we have them. I find this shocking as our provinces generally have fewer powers than states.
