Al Jefferson Still An Average Rebounder?

He leads Utah in rebounds per game, and in rebounds per 48 minutes.

He is 4th in the league in rebounds per game, and 8th overall in rebounds per 48 minutes.

So are the Al haters willing to admit he is actually a pretty good rebounder?

I'm a giant Al hater, but have always thought rebounding was his best attribute. I still want either him or Millsap traded.

if my grandmother stands under the basket. without playing defense.
see would get about half the rebounds big al gets. mind you my grandmother(s) died years ago.
but they would still get half those rebounds.

it's easy to get rebounds when not trying on defense.

the great carlos boozer made a living not playing defense getting them rebounds.
until he got a coach who knew stats dont mean ****. and basically boozer turned into a overpaid scrub.

Lol.

That was AT you, by the way, not with you.

Actually, Boozer got a lot of rebounds because he played with Okur, who spent a lot of time outside the paint. His rebounds dropped when he started to get less minutes than he did in Utah and was paired up next to a good rebounder in Noah.

Jefferson plays with Millsap, Favors, and (to a much lesser, almost non-existent extent) Kanter, all of whom try to rebound.

I agree that Jefferson's boxing out effort is often questionable and poor, but he is nearly elite in every other facet of rebounding.

I don't want to be convinced. I love hating Al and prefer to keep it that way. Anyone got some neg stats? Hurry, please.

Al played way better defense than he typically did last season. There were several plays when he didn't challenge somebody cruising into the rim but he was showing and running back to his guy and they didn't kill him with PnR.

People whose minds are made up see what they want to see. 14/16/2/1/1 in 27 minutes means nothing, AJ must be destroyed at all costs.

Al has been rebounding the ball extremely well this year! So far he's at a career high on both actual (11.6) and /36 (12.8). He also has his career high % on defensive rebounding (30.5%). Can't knock him for that this year.

His offensive rebounding % and totals are nowhere near his first 7 out of 8 seasons. Does this help? Also, he may not perform as well that Hostess is going out of business, so his rebounding will probably not last.

Poor at boxing out, very good at timing his jumps, or predicting which way the ball will bounce. When it comes to rebounders who don't put in considerable effort, Al might me one of the best.

Big Al is underrated around here.
that being said i still support a trade because jazz have nice youth in the front court that needs to be UNLEASHED!
that doesnt mean i have to hate big al like dutchjazzer. i can respectfully want him to be traded.
