Would you do this trade?

Okafur and Washington's 2014 1st rounder (top three protected) for Al Jefferson and a couple 2nds.

Why Washington does it? They're 0-12. Their offense is abyssmal. It frees them of Okafur's contract which has one more year on it after this year. They get Al's Bird Rights. It gives their fans some hope which is completely void right now. Seriously a Wall-Beal-Vesely-Jefferson-Nene starting five sounds solid on paper.

Why we do it? The 1st rounder most of all. This could land us the stud we need. It also frees us of Jefferson's awful defense and frees up time for our young bigs to play more. Okafur, who currently plays just 22.5 minutes a game, nets us about 10 more minutes for Kanter/Favors to play. We'd have to suck up his contract for next year as well but that 2014 1st rounder should be a very high pick, we open up time for Favors and Kanter, and Okafur's 2013 contract shouldn't really hurt us in re-signing our young guys.

Wishful thinking. No way in hell Washington lets you get to the second sentence before hanging up.

I changed it to top 3 protected. You don't think they'd consider it? They're 0-12!!! They have nothing on the offensive end. Jefferson is essentially exactly what they need. And they've had their share of high picks. They need a solid vet.

I'ts a good trade for both sides but Washington won't do a trade till they got their 2 best player, Wall and Nene able to play again. Making a move would be hasty for them at this stage and this record (0-12) must be predictable for them cause if it's not, it's mental. (we're talking about a team that Jordan Crawford as its best scorer)

So they actually would want to see how this team works out with its core who they build around and a good big man like Nene, they'll wait and see how it goes then maybe a trade posible for their halting points. But;

I actually think there could be something to this trade. The last thing that Washington needs is to become younger. They need something to stabilize that franchise. I don't think that Al is that person, but I don't think that they know that. Also, we would need to give them something more than two second rounders, Burks maybe but even that doesn't seem likely because they have their future as Wall, Beal, Crawford. Adding Burks might be redundant for them.

We could maybe give them a 2015 1st. So in essence, they're not losing a 1st, just postponing getting one...just like we're postponing freeing up about 14.5M by getting Okafur in the deal.

This would give us our 2013 1st, the GS pick, and the Wiz 2014 1st...to potentially move up and get someone like Shabazz...

Didn't read the whole thread, but I will just add this..

You'd probably have to at least, go to top 5 protected. 2014 will have 5 (minimum) total STUDS.

1. Andrew Wiggins
2. Jabari Parker
3. Andrew Harrison
4. Julius Randall
5. Aaron Gordon
... I can think of 10 more .. gonna be a monster class.

Interesting.

I would do this trade in half a second. Washington though? Doubtful. But a top five pick next year would do us wonders in case there is a PGOTF that moves up a bunch of spots in the weeks prior to the draft (like lillard did damn it). They might bite for jefferdads scoring though

With Burks rotting on the bench, I think we could (should?) throw him into the deal to get this done pronto. Of course, it's all contingent on Corbin being fired and bringing JVG aboard.

Or use that pick, our pick and someone (maybe like Kanter) to try and move up to get Wiggins in 2014.

Wiggins is a guy you won't be able to trade for. I bet no team does a trade that doesn't include a top 1 protected. Wiggins is a guy that may be out of reach no matter the assets.

Should we start a "Waste the season for Wiggins" campaign next year?

This team is not a contender for anything .. including losing that badly.

Next year is really worth to try but yeah we don't have that losing mindset and we're inexperienced on it, unlike teams like specialized it (Wizards etc.). If we actually try we would make a hash of it and inevitably win as many games to keep us away from top protected.
