Get this, having fun is addictive.
Get this, being a self-loathing douche is also habit forming.
Marijuana can be over-used and used in the wrong settings, just like almost every plant on earth. IMO, I think everybody should use it in some fashion, even if extraordinarily rarely.
As for other drugs:
I recommend shrooms at least once, but don't be one of those dudes that trips all the damn time. It is a poison. But try it on a camp trip. Fun.
Definitely try MDMA once with someone you love and in the right non-judgmental dancing/musical environment. Amazing time. Also be sure to clear your calendar for the following two days and just be with him/her during the come down (which can be a bitch). Don't make a habit out of this either, but try it once. There is a whole genre of music you'll have different access to.
Stay away from opiates and amphetamines.
None of this is a good idea if you are alone and depressed or in the company of wreckless douches. You can't separate drug use from the quality of your character and company. Don't fool yourself.
I get what you're saying here, I really do. I also believe you're being completely sincere.
Having said that, I think this post is ridiculously reckless and irresponsible. To actually recommend certain drugs in such a wholesale, blanketly-stated, manner is troublesome to me.
I have seen people recreationally use certain drugs and do just fine with the occasional entertainment value. I have also seen people that simply lack whatever discipline is necessary to keep things recreational.

I feel I am strong enough mentally to never abuse drugs, however, having watched my own dad lack the discipline to keep things reasonable, I decided to never even try certain things (cocaine, acid, etc). He got consumed by it .. not like a junkie or anything, but he abused them recreationally and I KNOW it negatively impacted his life. He twice beat all of it just to have someone recklessly tell him to just do it one more time and don't do it again ... didn't work that way for him.

I'm not saying no one should do drugs. I am saying that it sickens me to hear you suggest that 'everyone' should try it at least once. Problem is, you're only speaking to those who haven't yet tried it at least once. Those that are 'strong' enough to not get caught up in it will be fine, but will likely have already made up their minds to refrain and will not be persuaded by your advice. The person that is likely to give it a roll, that hasn't before, based on such a reckless suggestion, is also more likely to the person that lacks the fortitude to keep it low key.

I'm not attacking you, promise. As I said earlier, I understand the context and don't believe you mean any harm, whatsoever. I realize this is just a Jazz forum and no one is likely to run out to the street corner for drugs to try, just once. I still had to speak my mind.
