Firefighters shot in an apparent "trap"

This story is extremely sad... the fact that is happened on Christmas Eve makes it even worse.

Four volunteer firefighters were shot -- two fatally -- as they responded to a blaze early Monday at a small cluster of homes along Lake Ontario in Webster, N.Y.

The firefighters were shot as they exited their vehicles after being called to the scene just before 6 a.m. ET, police and fire officials said.
It appears they were the victims of a "trap," police said.

Is this escalation? Are shooters trying to outdo the others for fame? What other motive could be behind something like this?
 
So the guy that did this killed his Grandma with a Hammer! And only served 17 years in jail!!!!!


WTF! Why the hell was he released?!
 
We have searched long and hard for terrorists and threats around the world while ignoring the very potent ones domestically. We have let defense contractors and other special interest groups draw our attention, troops, and resources away from our own country. We spend so much trying to build up toilets around the world (because it makes a few folks super rich). Isn't it finally time we turn our attention to our own sick and rotting society?

This goes beyond gun control. Beyond the retarded decision to release this criminal. it goes beyond unfunded wars like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Quite honestly, our society is just rotting. We spend 10000000000000x more time on Call of Duty and Jazzfanz.com than participating in our local Democracies or studying our own Constitution. We are more concerned about Kim Kardashian and Jersey Shore. We are too distracted by our I-pads. We prefer to eat crappy and never exercise. The value we place on education is pathetic. There should have been outrage when this guy was released yet the media was probably too busy reporting who Paris Hilton had slept with to report this story.

We need to change. Time to get serious.

Has anything like this happened before?? The senseless killings just never ends. But what can be done to stop this **** from happening, because I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done, short of our government going through a 100% fundamental change, and putting a bigger priority on education, and mental health, but this will never happen.

This is like a poison that is just spreading and there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it, just makes me sick!!
 
I don't have any answers, just more and more questions. I'm struggling to put together something that explains the unbeliveable.

I wonder if the young males in our coountry have no role models, no real heros, nothing to aspire to.

How many hours have they spent virtually killing in Halo, or Call of Duty or whatever?

How many hours have they spent watching imaginary heros kick, chop and shoot his way out of a problem.

How many hours have the kids spent talking face to face with other humans, experiencing the joy of laughter or feeling empathy.

How many of these boys are on anti-depressants or other mind/mood altering drugs?

What does living in a perputual state of fear and war against a faceless, nameless enemy do to children and adolescents?

Is there an entire generation of hopless youth? Will disarming them matter if we can't take away their hoplessness? Or will more government regulation only increase their desperation?

What motivates these guys to do this? Why don't they leave a note, or something to explain who or what they are fighting against. Do they even know what they are fighting against, or what they are doing?

In this case, the shooter was an older man. Who wanted to burn down as much as the town as possible, and kill as many people possible because that "is what he's good at"... The more I read about these random acts of violence the more distraught I become. This country has serious problems.
 
Lets look at this recent case.

-This guy was an old man who was a convicted murderer

-He had a Bushmaster rifle, the same that was used in the Newtown, Conn shootings.

-He was not able to purchase a gun, same as the Newtown shooter.

-this old douche bag was only stopped because an off duty cop engaged him in a shoot out until the guy finally just killed himself. Something very similar to the Trolley Square shootings. A good guy with a gun was able to stop the killing. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

A person who really wants a gun can get a gun. The same as a person who wants illegal drugs. Its illegal to buy heroine, crack, cocaine, weed(most places) etc..but people sure don't have an issue purchasing it if they really want it.

You're right. So using that logic the only rational thing to do is to declare a war on guns.

Youth have always been like this, for thousands of years. If you believe the Bible stories, Elisha had to chase off his a group with bears, while another group raped a woman to death in Judges.
