Corbin reveals his reasons for leaving Al Jefferson in on the final defensive possession last night

@tribjazz: Corbin says he left Al Jeff in at end of game on D for ensuing offensive possession. Still, no guarantee Jazz get ball back if no foul.

Two things here:

#1 - WE HAD A ****ING TIMEOUT!!! Even if the Clippers took an early shot and the Jazz got the rebound with time left on the clock, we could have called timeout and put Al Jefferson back in for the final offensive play.

#2 - Even if we DIDN'T have a ****ing timeout, it's unlikely the Clippers were going to leave enough time on the clock to allow for anything other than a fullcourt shot. Was Corbin leaving Al Jefferson in for the potential fullcourt shot?

I mean, what am I missing here Corbin apologists? Help me out with this one - is our coach really THIS stupid, or are you just seeing something I'm not?

I'm never for tanking. I fully supported last year's playoff push. But, I'm now hoping things get ugly just so this NEVER-FIRE, LONG CONNING organization realizes that everybody sees the cards they are holding.

Corbin is problem #1
 
Meanwhile, it was imperative to pull Favors because of foul trouble so he could watch Al play terrible defense on the most important defensive possession of the game.
 
I still can't believe that happened. Corbin, YOU HAD A ****ING TIMEOUT AND COULD'VE HAD THE LAST POSSESSION OF THE GAME WITH THE GAME TIED.
 
And if he needs that timeout for clock management inside the fouling game? Short sighted mental midgets.

I should've clarified: We actually had TWO timeouts left, not just one.

So not calling a timeout in the middle of getting your **** pushed in ruthlessly DOES have it's benefits (unless you refuse to use them, whoops).

NBA Rulebook: "Each team is entitled to six (6) charged timeouts during regulation play. Each team is limited to no more than three (3) timeouts in the fourth quarter and no more than two (2) timeouts in the last two minutes of regulation play(This is in addition to one 20-second timeout per half.)"

Jazz's timeouts:

5:41 1st qtr (FULL)
2:41 2nd qtr (FULL)
5:22 3rd qtr (FULL)
3:00 4th qtr (FULL)
0:23 4th qtr (FULL)

^At this point, the Jazz still had one full timeout and one 20 second timeout left (they used the 20 sec. one after CP3's game winning FTs with 3 seconds left).

And you guys realize that with a full timeout, you can only make two subs, and on a 20s, you can only make one sub.

This post makes me think that the Corbin apologists on this board are just trolling the rest of us. There's grasping for straws and then there's this, holy ****.

If you're correct then your criticism at least has a foundation, even though it's wrong. The Jazz are much better in transition and had good success with it toward this point in the game (i.e. the Hayward play). I would have preferred that and Al Jefferson backup than calling a timeout and hoping the guys can score after allowing the Clippers to get 100% set on defense. That's the old Sloan philosophy & I agree with it in some instances. This was one of them as the Jazz just don't have the players to run a short clock offense with any success.

The 20 second rule is washed out under the 2 minute mark though.
