1st of all i dont think labeling every conservative or a whole group as "the right" is cool but i know the people who ur referring to.
i dont they are afraid at all. its more about trying to convince other people to be afraid. its a classic political tactic.

If you listened to the defense attornies' apologetics for themselves, I'd have to just say "wow. They're damn good. they got their client a plea deal, and then could justify their action as "best for the family of the victim", because if they had divulged the knowledge before the deal, their client could have gotten a new attorney and claimed the first ones were incompetent. . . . and maybe even beat the rap entirely, but for sure secured a new trial.
