Utah mentioned as a possible destination for Pierce

Next year is a big dud for FAs.
Who's out there Celts would want.
Perhaps no one. They may want to tank this year, get a pick, then tank next year, get a pick and chase big time FA's

Pierce and Brandon Bass for Marvin Williams and Jefferson.

Pierce at this stage in his career is still probably better than any SF Utah has ever had. Even better than Chris Morris and David Benoit.
Bass is an insurance policy against Millsap leaving via free agency or makes Millsap more tradeable.

Jefferson allows Garnett to move back to PF and play less minutes in preparation for the playoffs. Al's expiring contract gives Celtics flexibility for next season. Marvin fills the SF spot vacated by Pierce's departure.

Just seems way too risky for Jazz to go after Rondo and Pierce.
Jazz have their payroll set up to make better moves than this.
Jazz would also have to move Mo Williams.
He won't take a back seat to Rondo.

They lose very little flexibility by doing this. Pierce is gone by the time renewing any young guys is an issue and Rondo's contract is not that bad. Jazz have a grand total of 25M committed for next year. Taking on these contracts still puts them below the Tax limit and has them a grand total of 13 Million commited for the following season. Only Rondo would be under contract past next season.
.
This is the reason you want flexibility. So you can get a player you want by taking on a bad contract. I'm not sure they should go after Rondo. But they do need a PG for the future and Rondo may be a good fit here.

i feel like there is bad blood between kg and al.... plus celtics gave him away when al was a baby. do you really think they will want him back?

I do. I think Al and KG would make a pretty good pair on the court. KG the defensive stopper with Al being the post presence that KG no longer is.

I would be estatic if we could trade for Rondo and only have to take Peirce to do this... i would be willing to offer these options

Al, Paul, Watson/tinsley and Bell plus our two picks this year and our second rounds plus our 2015 first Rounder(in this senario the C's would also throw in Wilcox or Collins)

Al, Kanter, Marvin Williams, Watson/tinsley and Bell plus one of our first round picks(in this senario the C's would also throw in Wilcox and Collins)

Who cares they just want Al's expiring contract. Then the C's could go for Josh Smith in Free Agency!!

I have a hard time seeing Rondo play in Utah. He would work Corbin over. He is exactly what we need, but I do not see the personality fit here. I think it would be a train wreck.

Hey, I know how to get Rondo. Trade for Garnett, with a guaranteed buyout. Trade for Willie Green or whothehelleverheis, praying for a buyout. Trade for alBassatross, without a buyout he's a good 3rd big. Give them our two first rounders that won't be worth much anyway.

Here you go. Here's Rondo in a Jazz uni: https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=aaoof8o

This leaves Boston with $32mm and pretty much nothing. But nothing might be better than LT territory and nothing.

Rondo, dickweed Collisuck 1/2 MLE
Burks, Haywad, Carroll
Haywad, Marvin, Carroll
Kanter, Bass, Green
Favors, Kanter, vet

"Good luck kids, you're gonna need it."

^ The Lakers team and the Celtics team are much different dynamics. I think this blog has some traction, just my opinion.
url didn't work. Al and Mo for Paul and Rondo.

And we give them the better of GS or our pick.

I'd do this. I'd actually consider trading both our picks this year if it means getting Rondo and getting rid of Fat Al.

Rondo-Tinsley
Hayward-Foye (yeah, I know he'd start)
Pierce-Marvin
Millsap
Favors-Kanter

That's a real solid nine man rotation with Burks and Carroll sprinkled in there. Good enough for us to get to the 2nd round and compete imo. If we meshed quickly enough. Heck, we could beat the Clips in a seven game series imo.

I would love to see what happens to Al Jefferson if he'd be put on the Celtics next to KG. It would be the first time in Al's life that he'd be held accountable on D, and KG kind of already hates him.

So.. I made a trade thread before this thread came out about Pierce and I got no response. Some blogger says something and then it becomes interesting to you.

**** you guys.

If 19.0, 5.7, 3.8, 1.4 is done, I'll take it.

His shooting is 43% and dropping, his mobility on defense is limited, and he's making max money for another year. He does seem to kill the Knicks though. Getting Pierce at this stage would be an all-in shot at contending this year, and it wouldn't work for us.
