Living in Utah (near SLC)?

So I'm a jersey guy but I'm thinking of moving to out West. I've already been to Utah in the winter (Park City) but how is it around SLC during the warmer months?? I really enjoy all outdoor activities & recently visited Denver last summer but I just want to compare that to Utah? I like biking, hiking, camping, etc... but I'm also seeking a good nightlife as well. Would I also get that there in Utah or does it NOT come close to Denver? I'm a huge sports nut & would rather choose to live in Utah because I want to get season tickets for the Jazz & I figure that I can also go to my Broncos games as well, depending on opponents.

Salt Lake is infinitely better than Denver in regards to outdoor activities ... the Denver nightlife is better though .....Pick your poison I guess

IMHO it doesn't get much better than utah april through october..... I HATE the winter (dont ski or board) but the rest of the year is awesome for camping, biking, fishing, hiking, swimming etc etc.

So much to do and me, my wife, and my dogs happiness levels are at a very high level through most of the year.

My routine is to work as much as possible (lots of 72 hour weeks) during the winter and then work as little as possible the rest of the time and have lots of fun.

are you single? good looking? with a good job? and most of all, a really decent guy with a good sense of humor? if so, my beautiful daughter might want to meet you, so perhaps consider Santa Monica...

if you can't answer yes to all those questions, then forget it :)

If you are in Denver you are pretty far from ski resorts and such. From downtown SLC you are 30 min from a handful of the top resorts in the world. Also in Utah you have access to the red rocks that puts you far and above Colorado. Places like Moab and access to Grand Canyon/Powell. Plus you are only 6 hours from Vegas. Im currently in the Bay Area but I love Utah......except for the inversions....

The inversions are horrible..... its pretty bad right now :(

Utah outdoor recreation is absolutely phenomenal. Such a wide variety of activities within an hrs. drive of SLC it's unreal.

Utah has a few barriers to a lively night life. That said, it isn't like they're aren't clubs, bars or good restaurants here. Like anyplace, a lot of it is what you make it. If one of the local bars or clubs fits your liking then you're likely to think Utah has a great night life, if you don't try them or you don't enjoy the ones you try then you'll be able to tell the world there is nothing to do at night in Utah.

One of the biggest problems is that there is a limit to how many bars can be located on a single city block, so there isn't an area where it's easy to walk from bar to bar. That hurts the overall atmosphere of the club scene as each one is an island unto itself as well as encourages people to drive to and from their bar of choice or from bar to bar. If there was a part of town where most the clubs were I imagine it would be easy to establish a taxi stand that could serve the people coming and going. As it is I think you pretty much have to call a cab if you want to take a cab in Utah unless you're at the airport, of course.

What surprises me is that we got this crap cleared out just a few days ago and it's back in full force. It builds up fast.

We need to turn the overflow pumps on the GSL into giant blowers to blow this junk out of here!

If I moved back to Utah I would have to be in Park City/Midway if I could make it work. That smog just drives me insane.

The inversions are bad but it's easy enough to get a break from it with a short drive to the resorts.

Yeah, that's definitely a concern. I'm glad the schools let the kids have indoor recess on those red air quality days. Love to let them play outside but...

Forget SLC and come join the STG crew.... Outdoors paradise.. Only 50 minutes from Brian head if you want snow and the activities that come with it...

Only an hour and a half from Vegas and the best nightlife of anywhere...

2 hrs to Bryce, Powell, Mead and the Grandcanyon...

Three resiviors all with in 20 minutes...

The best golf in Utah....

Snows Canyon state park and Redhills nature reserve in your back yard....

Green valley bike loop.....

I would LOVE to meet your beautiful daughter, but I'm afraid I'd fall in love with her mother...
