You simply can't be up 2 w/2 minutes remaining in OT and give the opponent's best player a wide-open 3 to flip the game on its ear. Yes, Al should have stepped out but when has he ever done that in his life? He took Favors of the game when he picked up his 5th foul...what was he saving Favors for?
Even when a Ty calls a play that sorta works, it still reflects poorly on him. On the final shot, we ran the same double down-screen to free Foye we normally run (against Chicago it failed because both bigs set soft screens and we had to rely on Millsap flashing to the corner), and this time Al actually set a great screen to free him - but Foye (as if his man was still on his hip) ran toward the ball and away from the hoop instead of settling at the top of the key so we ended up with a 26-foot fallaway 3pt that predictably drew air and nothing else.
If this was November or December you say, maybe next time champ. But this is late February in his 3rd year coaching. If Ty's all that and a bag of chips these little mistakes shouldn't still be occuring at the frequency they do.
