Alec Burks doesn't have the skills and all-around talent that Penny had. Not even close. I wish he did.

Not true. didnt turn out to be a special player. he always was one, check his college/hs resume.
the CP3 vs Deron battle is almost moot. especially with Deron shooting 41% for the nets, hes worse than his utah days, id contend paul was better back then too, that point is disagreeable. judging by their whole body of work, CP3 all-day
CP3 also possesses every trick in the bag, multiple blow-by crossovers, viscous hesitation game. Trey burke vs CP3 directly is a 97-99grade vs 85-88grade, and thats presuming all of trey burkes game translates, which i question

Andre Miller isn't a good comparison. Burke is like a slightly rich man's Darren Collison with better floor vision and IQ.

Coming out of UCLA, Collison was expected to be an excellent back-up PG, not inherently a starter. Collison played 4 years at UCLA though, whereas Burke is a sophomore.
Burke's assist numbers are a notch higher than Collison's were in college.
Edit: Okay, now I'm convincing myself that Trey Burke isn't ideal.

Looking at the standings, honestly the farthest the Jazz would fall is the #12 pick. Notable players in that area: Trey Burke, Alex Poythress, Michael Carter-Williams and C.J. McCollum. I know that Michael Carter-Williams isn't the popular choice with you guys, but if the Jazz could pick him in the 12-14 range I would be estatic.
Carter-Williams is 6'6 and leading the nation is APG with around 8 assists per game, has a very good assist to turnover ratio almost 3/1, widely considered the best point guard in the draft with Burke a close second. I know he has some off the court isssues but he can ball, I know he hasn't been playing good lately but that is good for the Jazz so that he stays in the late-lottery range.

I have MCW easily in my top 10, ive said he wont get past the kings/pistons.
if we can nab MCW in the 12-14 range thats a bargain. i like it, plus he flashes inside of 2minutes, very good sign.
Gut tells me we have no chance at him, will have to pay a premium. i do not forsee any scenario where the jazz pick is 12-14 though, i think were gonna be close to 20

The Thunder might take Carter-Williams with their lottery pick though, leaving the Jazz to take Burke if they fall into the lottery. Right now Burke and MCW are even to me either one of them has to show me a little something extra like leading their teams to wins which both can not seem to do lately. A good comparison for Burke to me is Kemba Walker/Ty Lawson.
