Kirelenko in Trade talks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this deal happens, it's a pretty clear sign the Jazz want no part of the LT this season. I can almost understand it strategically. They know NOW they don't want to pay it, so they don't want to be in a position later to have to unload a player at the deadline if the team is clicking on all cylinders. But if they do it now they don't have an PR messiness. It makes sense, but I don't like it.

I think the Jazz would like more cap flexibility, yes, but they are not committed to AK longer term and are now getting something for him if they do this deal.

I can't say I really blame the Jazz, but this trade would be disappointing nonetheless. Downgrading in talent and making a budget move right before the season starts is a downer for the fans and players. Not to mention, AK actually has motivation to play well this year...and I think we all know that at times it has been an issue. I would also of like to have seen what would be out there for that expiring contract come the trade deadline. That said, I do think Diaw would be at least a decent fit. He's an excellent passer for his position, like AK.

But I would certainly have to think that getting Melo out of the division is also a motivating factor for the Jazz to get this deal done.

Ok so we tell AK that we are only trading him to Denver to destroy the Nuggets as division rivals. Tell him to have a year long back spasm, stay in Utah with his Family, then we resign him next year. Brilliant!

I know, wishful thinking. But oh how I would love to see the Thugget's choke on that.

Diaw's under contract only one more season than AK is. This is just a salary move to get under the LT while getting a respectable player in return. They've been trying to dump AK's contract for years...

The Utah Jazz make $1 million in revenue for a home game sell out, this deal saves the Jazz the equivalent of 18 home sell outs.

According to multiple sources with knowledge of a proposed four-team blockbuster, the Nets are negotiating a deal that would bring them Carmelo Anthony from Denver in exchange for Devin Harris, first-round pick Derrick Favors plus draft picks.

There are some small details that could derail the deal, but Anthony has already signed off on the deal, according to an NBA source, and it could happen as early as Saturday. Anthony's approval was pivotal in the deal because the Nets wouldn't have agreed to it for a one-year rental.

How twisted has the NBA become when the players are the ones approving the deal? This whole thing has become disgusting.

Denver can trade him if they want to, but the team he's going to has to have assurances that he will sign an extension. Otherwise, why would they want to give so much up to get him?

Anthony had to approve the extension the nets were offering, not the trade itself. It was the Nets who said they wouldn't do the trade unless he signed an extension, not Anthony.

Eww... I just defended Crymello. I threw up a little in my mouth.

I know why the Nets did it and it's completely understandable. I would hope the Jazz would do the same thing in that situation. But it's just another example of how much players and agents run the entire league these days. Melo pushed his way out via trade so he can go some place he wants long term and still get the max dollars possible by signing an extension rather than signing a new contract. We can thank "King James" and his people for creating that environment around the league. Let's hope it's not what D-Will becomes...I don't think he will, but you never do know until he signs on the bottom line. People thought Melo was going to sign an extension with the Nuggets this summer, too...

Looking at it from the jazz perspective it's not a bad deal, you shell out 18 mill either way but you get 2 years out of a decent player instead of shelling out 18 million for one year for a good player but someone who may or may not stay healthy when you need him. let's face it ak's health has a lot to do with this, not just the contract.

This trade would be great if we got any actual talent back or even some 1st rounders or something. As it stands, it's not a huge loss as far as overall production but we are definitely playing the salary dump role in this trade. Hopefully there is more to it than being reported and we get someone who's actually worth something in return.
