My guess is that it is something that the mods gave. I can see the advantages of it either way. If you have something to say then be brave enough to put your name to it. However the mystery of who said something outrageous to you in a rep can be kind of fun.

Wait are you saying that before that system you can rep a person and that rep box even had a comment section in it but your name would be kept secret?
 
Rep used to be anonymous. However, not sure how it fixes the 'suckfest' as frank called it because you could still sign your name to it. If someone wanted to suck up, they still could..
 
I'm all for open voting/rep giving, but hiding the name but adding a comment box sounds like the lamest **** I've ever heard for a long time. No offense. Experience is gained through living. So they added the names. Good for the forum.

Just so everybody knows, regular mods don't have any control over the functionality of the site. Just Jason and Colton - the admins. The rest of us are the same as everyone else (plus some minor editing and disciplinary privileges).

I should have known better meant giving you the benefit of the doubt that you deserve instead of reading "end stinks" literally. No backhand in that.
