Kirelenko in Trade talks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't do it KOC. AK is an integral part of this team and you might as well blow it up to trade him for a scrub like Diaw. THERE ARE NO BIG FREE AGENTS COMING TO THE JAZZ NEXT YEAR REGARDLESS OF CAP SPACE. We more or less have to go to war with what we got, and hope Tomic becomes something. That is the optimal Jazz future, for better or worse.

Sounds like Denver is still looking for a better deal with the Bulls.

Thought this was a done deal

Come on Denver don't less us down

Here is what I don't get. How can Charlotte give up much overpaid average player like Diaw and end up with an all star guard in Harris? Diaw's 2 year overpaid contract relative to his ability makes him a kind of player you dump for nothing, and throw some picks to just get rid of his salary. To get an all star guy of Harris' caliber for that seems outrageous. AK is a better player than Boris, and he is on the last year of contract, which makes him overall a lot more valuable. If anything, we should be getting Harris out of this deal. Why are Bobcats even in this trade? If Denver wants AK47 and Favors for Melo, how can Bobcats just come in, dump crappy contract and get an all star in return? Something doesn't make sense here.

The more I think about it, the more I am unable to understand why Charlotte is even in this deal? Harris and Diaw make about the same amount this year. Why not for Utah to just take on Harris? Why do we need to make that extra Harris/Diaw swap and give Bobcats an all star for garbage when we can just get that all star ourselves? Diaw/Harris salaries are the same. Denver wants AK47. Why not just take Harris and forget about Diaw? What am I missing here?

Boris Diaw has this year under contract and a player option for next year. Harris has this year and two more. Also there is the playing time issue. Either Deron or Harris would have to play a lot of 2.

If Diaw has a player option next year, any chance Jazz force him to opt out. That way Jazz save big bucks this year and don't have his nine mil on the the payroll next year. A win win for KOC.

As I understand it, there are multiple draft choices involved, which have not been revealed. All that's been reported is the primary guys changing hands.
IMO, Hayward has greatly impressed the Jazz and they expect he and CJ to eat up the SF minutes. Hayward is said to lack the same lateral quickness CJ lacks for playing SG. That leaves a hole at b/u SG; Jeffers isn't a great option. Quinton Ross is a known comodity as a defender; been a starter too. He's a good fit for us behind Bell at SG. He is a bit light to be at SF, but can do that too.
At PF, Diaw isn't much of a defender, but has a pretty good offensive game. He can run with or w/o the ball, shoot with range, and is an excellent passer. He and Hayward on the b/u unit could be potent offensively. Add to that Earl Watson penetrating and passing, our b/u unit would put up some points. For defense, Watson and Ross are both good defenders. Either Elson or Fes at C would be guarding the paint. I know Elson can also pass the ball, and I think Fes isn't too shabby either.

you do realize it will be much easier to trade a 9mil expiring contract next year then a 17mil this year?

You can bet your house Boris will take that player option next year. 9 mil for an average player - are you kidding me? So, it is a 2 year deal, 9 mil per. Harris is a 3 year deal 9 mil per. But Harris is actually worth that money, which makes him a great asset, not to mention he is all star caliber player. Diaw is NOT worth the money and is an average player. Do you see the HUGE difference between these 2 assets? It is a GOOD thing when an excellent player like Harris is signed for longer at a price he is worth, or below.

As far as playing time, our best season in last decade has been when Deron played together with 6-1 Fisher. Harris is 6-3, and Deron/Harris would make a deadly combination against most line-ups. Or we could even have Devin come off the bench ala Ginobili or Terry. The point is, with talent like Harris, all of the sudden we are dramatically improved and have a great asset on our hands. Hell, we might even be contenders with a guy like that in a year or so. With Diaw we are actually a bit worse than before, and still have an overpaid guy on the roster (less overpaid than AK, but double the contract for more overall money). Why even bother with Charlotte and Diaw? Denver wants AK, Favors, and picks. NJ wants Melo and is willing to give up picks, favors, and Harris. Why in the world do we need Charlotte with their garbage of an asset in Diaw? Take Harris, and be done with it. Annual salaries are the same. There is no need to get Diaw involved here. We have a chance to greatly improve the team with Harris and still get under luxury tax instead of making it worse with Diaw.

What? Denver wants AK's expiring contract as the core part of this deal NOW - did you miss the entire point of the thread?
