Taking the action Carl took has it's place in the Walking Dead world. For example that was Martinez instead of that kid. You take him out. But this kid wasn't a threat. He could even have been useful. You walk him in and place him ina cell. After they got back and that kid sees that you rescued the rest of Woodbury. Well that is one more shooter you have. One more member of a scavenging team.

I liked it. I like that the gov is still on the loose. I like Andrea dead but sad that I do finally understand her character at the end and so don't hate it so much. Her monkey toes skillz were terrible though. And I doubt the ability to get through handcuffs with nothing but a pair of pliers in seconds. I'll believe in zombies before I believe in that.

Like the dark turn Carl is taking. Will he become Shane who may or may not be his biological father?

New group is interesting. A lot of weaklings added. I see this will bring zombies into play more, which has kind of been on the back burner this season. I expect the zombie threat to be more prevalent next season.

Like that Michonne and Daryl feel like they are part of the group now. Really like Michonne's development last few episodes.

Shane's Carl's son, but the writers think we're so dumb that they give you all the hints in the world to diminish any shock to the show.

Andrea is an idiot, talking to Milton while youre trying to get Out of handcuffs? Very bright idea! The governor is the only thing keeping this show together anymore.. Ugh what a waste of a show.

That's the problem. He didn't think. He is filling the role of Shane. There needs to be a balance between the two. Think things thru but when it's time for action then act.

I disagree. If I remember right they said drop the gun. The kid started moving forward with the gun still in hand and readily able to fire. I don't think it was a safe situation. I think the point of that scene was that Carl wasn't taking any chances. But I don't think it was cold-blooded. Unless I am misrembering.

I won't go a far in describing it as Herschel did but I do think he acted to quickly. That's my main point. His default is to far towards the act end and Ricks is to far towards think. I like the ying/yang they are becoming.

I agree but I just don't see it like he gunned down some innocent. But it's irrelevant as I'm sure he will at some point.

i think the quality of this half-season went up a touch in the last stretch. enjoyed the finale as it didn't go the way i'd assumed. there were still holes and clunky dialogue and just flat out dumb stuff, but there was also tension and some interesting character development. the carl/rick thing is moving into compelling territory. i liked the governor-going-bat****-crazy thing too. glad that it went out on a good note, with some new questions coming up.

This got me curious, so I just went back and reviewed the scene.

The kid did have his hand on the gun, yes. He was holding it in his right hand. His trigger finger WAS within reach of the trigger. But he had it off of he trigger, the gun was pointed up in the air, and he was trying to hand the gun to Carl. His other hand was up in the air on his left in a stance of surrender. It should also be noted that he was covered by both Carl and Herschel, who had loaded, cocked guns pointed at him.

Carl shot him in cold blood.
