What's new

We should all root for the Jazz these final games, because next season is The Year of the Tank

We have nothing to lose for. We don't have much to win for, but it'd be cool to make the playoffs over the Lakers.

This draft is supposedly awful.

Next draft is supposedly great.

We're (hopefully) going to let the vets walk, throw the keys to the young bigs, and probably lose. A lot.

And we're going to get a nice draft pick out of it.

I know everyone hates Jefferson and the rest of the vets. But Jefferson, despite his inability, has been an outstanding dude here. Millsap has been with us 8 seasons, and Minn is likely his last home game. As frustrated as we've been this and last season, if you think about it long-term, it makes sense that we had these two middling seasons, especially if we tank the next one. We've positioned ourselves for a full clearing-the-books rebuild. The half/half **** seems to be nearing an end. I hope the organization has the courage for a losing season; we should go after that franchise piece. Then with one final good draft pick and through smart FA, and patience, we'll hopefully launch ourselves to a top 4 team in a few years.

I agree.

The Jazz aren't going to be ok with a bad season. Some media guy says it, and all of sudden its become an actual possibility in the minds of Jazzfanz. The Jazz will do everything they can, that they think will get them in the playoffs next year. They'll over pay some bad vets and do this all over again. Even if we go full blown youth movement, we probably will just be better. No way that if our four core started would they lose enough to land a top 5 pick. I do not expect that we will be really bad next year no matter what moves we make in the offseason.

You can't say that The Four are legit then turn around and say that the Jazz will suck if they cut the fat off the team.

You also can't believe that the fat will be cut if the Jazz have a "successful" season.

I think they're good players for the most part, but we will struggle with inconsistency and probably a really bad bench since we will presumably avoid long-term deals once again.

I am against losing on purpose in all its forms. Period.

However if the Jazz are playing the young guns and we are losing than so be it. But you try your damn best to win every single game.

Can I make this my signature, David Locke?

This is what I would be 99% of the posters here want. You have decided that if anyone says that we should let the vets walk and play the young guys, that we mean we want to lose.

No one wants to lose. Everyone would rather lose with young guys that watch Al and Foye and Mo get blown out by SA every year in the first round.

Since you quoted me and used the term "you" than I am going to assume that you are reffering to me directly.

Like HELL I have decided that playing the young guys = losing on purpose. Like god damn hell. That leads me to one of 2 conclusions:

1. You are not reading my posts

or

2. You are intentionally misrepresenting them as I am plain spoken

There were several posters here openly calling for tanking and losing on purpose to increase our draft pick. They were not calling for playing our core but straight up losing on purpose. SHAMEFUL

I think that going with a bigger emphasis on "The Four" would actually result in a similar record to what we have now and with a much improved one in the years to come.

As for the Vets (I am putting Sap, Big Al, Mo, Foye, Marvin, Watson and Tinsley in this group) the only ones I want back are Sap and Tinsley and Tinsley only as a 3rd string PG.

If you are going to argue with me than perhaps you should try to learn my exact position on the issue being discussed.

I think you are wrong when you say several posters want the Jazz to lose on purpose.
I think almost all of us are like you we want the jazz to play the young guys and if they lose so be it.
I think the posters who are rooting for the jazz to lose are only doing so because the vets are the ones getting most of the minutes

They may have changed their tune now but there were those openly calling for Jazz loses. Regardless of reason it is shameful. You play Big Al 48 minutes I will root for the Jazz to win the whole damn game. Then I will bitch at Ty for being an idiot and damaging our future but I will not root for the Jazz to lose.

That was openly happening on here. To deny it is dishonest. You may not have doen it Fish but it was being done.

Also I disagree with the premise that playing the Core will mean the Jazz have a poor record. I think they would have us about where we are now.

The jazz will not tank on purpose, and Kanter-Favors > Al-Millsap. I think Mo, Foye, and Marvin will be back. Hopefully Carroll will be back as well.

With this in mind the lineup I hope we see...

Mo. Foye
Burks. Foye
Hayward. Carroll. Williams
Kanter. Favors. Williams. Free agent
Favors. Kanter. Free agent.

Didn't include who we might draft as that's impossible to predict. These are the players I think will be on the roster, and the rotation with these players I think will be back that I hope the jazz will employ. I can see this team ending between 6th to 10th in the west.

They lose me if they try this **** again next year. I'm giving them the benefit of a very slim doubt that they have a plan that is centered around the C4. If that's not the case I've lost all faith in the organization.

Agreed. If a pro sports team throwing games isn't illegal it ought to be. The entire FO of the GS Warriors should be in prison.

I kid, sort of.

There is no chance that burks will start over foye if foye is on the team next year :(

McCollum / Udrih / Tinsley
Burks / Caldwell - Pope / FA SG (not a fan of Foye)
Hayward / Carroll / Marwin Williams / Draft SF
Kanter / Veteran PF / Carroll / Marwin Williams
Favors / Dalembert

Is this a Playoff team? Unlikely but possible. I see us between the 8th and 12th seed, similar to this season. The year after, I expect us to become a top 6 team in the West.
