I think Dallas want 2nd round picks instead of 1st round picks with guaranteed salary.
Edit: Or future 1sts.
In that case, I'd take their entire freaking roster minus Dirk for the #13 pick. Cuban can swing for the fences and we'd compete for a year, then have a shot at 2014 FA. All their contracts expire, or are cheap rookie deals.
I don't think The Mavericks trade Marion unless they know they have talent coming back. They need to maintain some players for a final run with Dirk.
I can see them offering up VC in this scenario though.
Cuban is dreaming of a Dirk/Dwight/Marion front court.
I don't want to give up the #21. I would throw in 2 2nd rounders though, including the one from this year.
Where you getting that, NUMBS? Shamsports has him with a player option, which would be bizarre if they have a buyout on top of that. Why give him the option at all?
But hang on, I thought Dallas wanted the cap space - why would they want the #21 pick?
I'd do the trade though - if it means we can secure Schroeder. Having Marion for 1 year is a small price to pay - it just means we won't have to bring in a vet back-up big. Marion and Marvin can play 3rd big by committee (we're "tanking" anyway right?). That's a perfect scenario.
Bazz wuold probably be gone. So I'd draft Steven Adams at #13 and Schroeder at #14. Adams is a smart/heady/tough shot blocking big man, who can be our 4th big behind Favors/Kanter/Marion. He can be our 3rd big next year. Schroeder .... well enough said.
i'm a long-time pitt fan.. and lemme tell you straight up, steven adams sucks.
LOL.. it's no secret he wasn't very good at PITT. He was still adjusting to the College level of play in the US. He said as much in his interview. But he is a legit 7 footer. He has proven to be an instinctive shot blocker. He runs the floors and finish dunks. Plus, he has proven at the Combine that his shooting has improved massively, he was one of the best shooters there (mid range).
Big men develops slowly (see Ibaka/Marc Gasol), but looking at the "tools" he has right now, together with his heady-ness, fight, and willingness to improve, I'm projecting him to be a solid future pro - a legit 7 foot, shot blocker who shoots the 12 footer consistently. Sounds like a perfect 3rd big to me.

You talkin bout borchardt?
he is/has none of these. he's a straight-up knucklehead partier. the tools he has are almost simply what he was born-with, his game has hardly developed in the last 4 years.
