he is/has none of these. he's a straight-up knucklehead partier. the tools he has are almost simply what he was born-with, his game has hardly developed in the last 4 years.

I'm awaiting you alleging that you have been following him since New Zealand and that you knew he was a freshman while everyone knows you're full of ****.

LOL.. it's no secret he wasn't very good at PITT. He was still adjusting to the College level of play in the US. He said as much in his interview. But he is a legit 7 footer. He has proven to be an instinctive shot blocker. He runs the floors and finish dunks. Plus, he has proven at the Combine that his shooting has improved massively, he was one of the best shooters there (mid range).

Big men develops slowly (see Ibaka/Marc Gasol), but looking at the "tools" he has right now, together with his heady-ness, fight, and willingness to improve, I'm projecting him to be a solid future pro - a legit 7 foot, shot blocker who shoots the 12 footer consistently. Sounds like a perfect 3rd big to me.

Don't think he'll be a huge shot blocker, maybe 1.5 a game, could be an elite post defender though. His older sister is a 6'4" 265 olympic shotputter. You figure at his height Adams can do 290 while still retaining some athleticism

Also, I wouldn't do the deal, because we don't really get anything for helping Dallas get Paul AND Howard. If they want my help to get that, I want Marion, 2013 pick and one more first rounder. I'm helping Dallas get a title here. They are going to have to pay.

... Did you mistake Mayo for Carter?

Read Marion. SMH.

I don't think The Mavericks trade Marion unless they know they have talent coming back. They need to maintain some players for a final run with Dirk.

It would likely be predicated on signing or having an agreement with Dwight-CP3, Dwight-Smoove. I'm pretty sure the CBA allows teams to sign players over the cap as long as they immediately obtain cap room. Fill out with vet minimums and hope it works.

Dallas isn't bringing Dirk another ring without something drastic like this or trading him to Boston for who knows what.

this trade is a no-brainer

Excellent fit for a 1year contract and the locker room, hes a warrior.

plays championship defense

I don't see any reason to give Dallas anything other than taking Marion off their hands. That's what they want and everyone knows it (they need the cap space to go after Dwight).
Only offer more if there's a bidding war.

They want a team to absorb Marion's nearly 10M contract. Not every team can/will do that. Jazz can. If another team can as well, and wants to - THEN consider what to sweeten the deal with. And be prepared to walk away if need be.

PS - I'm not wild about giving away future first round picks.

Summed up quite nice. Although, if its just a salary drop plus a pick, I see the Cavs all over it. Maybe, there 2nd round pick in the 30's for marion pick

The Jazz don't want to first round picks this year. If they can move up they will. If not, they will stash a pick. This trade could help them move up but I don't see them doing a lot to get more picks in the first round this year.

The Jazz don't want to first round picks this year.
Why's that? They're cheap, young, controllable, and allow the Jazz to hand the reins to their current young guys (signing vets makes this a lot more difficult). Taking on Marion for the #13 is a no-brainer, as long as the Jazz aren't sending back useful players or first round picks.

There a few other teams who also have massive amounts of cap space who could offer the same thing we can. Atlanta is another team. I'm sure there will be somewhat of a bidding war. I'm also sure Dallas will be looking for some future considerations. 2015 pick is a good thing to give up if it means us getting the 13th pick.

You may be right about having to offer the '15 pick. And it might be worth it for this year's 13th pick. Just dunno how much Jazz will suck that year or how good of a draft it's supposed to be. So that's why I'm hesitant. I don't have any power anyway. I'm just a critic.

The '15 draft is looking to be sub-par... it's obviously early, but I wouldn't mind losing the '15 pick.

Incidentally, the next killer draft seems to be taking shape for the 2017.
