What's new

Cavs will listen to offers for the 1st pick

I think some are undervaluing Hayward as well. And the Jazz have already told him that they want him to be the team leader. Call me crazy, but I think the kid can pull it off. He plays hard on both ends and leads by example. That's the kind of guy you want leading your team, IMO. I look forward to seeing if Kanter can become a leader too, but I'm not seeing it in Favors' personality. And also, Alec Burks has to be considered as trade bait to move up. I don't see him as a long term member of the team (right or wrong).

Wouldn't trade Kanter, Favors, or Hayward for the #1 pick this year. Wouldn't trade Burks for anything less than #3 (to get Burke). I'm pretty sure management we'll see it my way as well.

This, but fixed (for the impossible).

Hayward will average 18 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds as a starter and focus of the offense. He will not be an All Star this season because the Jazz will not be a strong enough team, but he will prove to be an All Star Caliber player.

This!!!

I probably like Hayward as much as you.. but don't see him as THE team leader. He can do some lead by example stuff.. but I don't see him being the one to challenge his teammates to put in overtime to kick ***.. to get guys to play hard every play. To call a huddle and command the attention of a serious team. I do see him as a right hand guy for the dude I just described.

Can't disagree with that assessment either. In fact that could be most likely. I think your best player has to be your leader as well. Hayward can't be our best player.

Who in this draft led his small, non-BCS team to the championship game and came within centemeters of beating one of the most famous, storied franchises in the history of college basketball?

Then was drafted by a team in disarray, yet still managed to put up Manu Ginobili numbers without near the help or open shots of Ginobili?

You show me that player, and then I will think about trading Hayward. The dude hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential playing behind Al, Mo, Paul, Marvin and Foye.

the same guy who has more FGA's than Points in the playoffs ???

Hayward = the next Juan Dixon. Book it

When people knock on Hayward it makes me wonder if they really watch Jazz games, or if they just look at misleading stat sheets. Post December, Hayward had a really, really good year. His last three games don't count, as Alfense was in overload as a going away present from Corbin.

i watch every game but the bottom line is hes gonna want to get paid and id rather pay someone else. or just trade him for a draft pick that we dont have to pay til 2017, is that terrible of me to say.

its not like hayward is an elite SF, he cant guard Elite SF's, so thats that, great utility player, great rotation player, his best position is an oversized 2 so he presents an issue on a roster that wasn't properly addressed last season, if we had the proper defenders on the wing, and competent shooters to surround hayward with, thats a different story, then you keep him, i guess.. gotta trade him in a few seasons though.

heres the thing if we load all these prospects like you guys want, the salaries dont magically add up way down the line so we keep all our kids, we will have to choose our players over our players. im saying get rid of Gordon now before someone offers him a ****load of money next offseason and we are forced to match.

i want to ensure these picks this year, Kanter, Favors, Burks are here for the long haul, we just need a PG and Shooters/Rebounders/Glue guys.

we have tons of cap space,
what if we traded hayward for a pick, then signed a player like Andre Igoudala to an over paid, but 1 year contract, so we are still flexible. bring an olympic champion, grab a few low cost picks, take shooters with flex capabilities like James Southerland or Timmy Jr in the 2nd round. Also Draft Peyton Siva in the 2nd round.

... do you think that team misses the playoffs?

Hayward pick = Bennett
#14 = Schroder
#21 = Snell
#32 = Hardaway Jr.
#46 = Siva

with no other FA's but Mo, Iguodala (and al for depth sake) and Tomic

Mo - Iguodala - Bennett - Favors - Al
Schroder - Burks - Snell - Kanter - Kanter
Siva/Burks - Hardaway JR/Snell - Marvin - Bennett - Tomic

i like that squad
