Guys... Can we revisit trading for Trey Burke?

Draft Express currently has Kings taking Trey Burke at #7.

But to me, the Kings could use a lot of "help" everywhere on the court. And do they really need Burke if they already have Thomas & Fredette? They could use a back up big - why not Gobert/Adams at #14? They could also use a scoring wing - why not Karasev/KCP/Franklin/Bullock at #21?

Isiah Thomas, Fredette
Thornton, Evans
Karasev/Franklin/KCP/Bullock
Thompson, Patterson
Cousins, Gobert/Adams

So my question to you is would you guys trade #14 and #21 for Trey Burke if he's available at #7?

Also who says no to the trade? Kings or Jazz?

Is he that good? I get the impression that there isn't anyone in this draft worth trading up for and that the first ten picks are going to be overpaid the moment they step on the court. Only later contracts will be at market value.

I say no.
Jazz also need the players you highlighted.
Jazz can find another way to get a PG.

Schroeder>Burke

In terms of upside/speed and quickness - yes.

But Schroeder's attitude and shooting is questionable.

Burke is a tremendous leader and would be great for our Core 4. He'll lead by example, will never complain, will always work hard to get better. That's a great player to have in your team. He might not have as much upside as Schroeder, but I think he'll make the whole team better as a whole.

The #14 + #21 are nowhere near enough to get the #7 pick. At least not in a normal year... I suppose it's anyone's guess in this year.

That's exactly my take on the situation.

But if it is possible - would you make that deal?

I would.

I don't know whether I would or not dependent on who's available at the time we pick.

I do think Burke is the real deal.

Well that's it isn't it. You won't ever know that, cos you'll have to make the deal at pick #7 in this case.

As the GM you just have to make a call I guess.

The Burke hype to me doesn't make sence. All I hear is that Larkin will only be a backup pg becaus he's too small, but then I look at Burke and he's a top 5-8 pick. Burke is not much bigger and far less athletic and quick. In this draft if Burke is really as good as everyone says I'd think he'd be competing for the top pick in the draft. I do think he has better pg skills then Larkin, but also feel Larkin is every bit the leader Burke is and has that same it factor. Just makes me wonder If Burke should be considered that much of a better prospect then Larkin.

Agreed. This also feeds into who you can be as a defender. It just adds to Larkin's lack of defensive potential.

and even though NBN likes to throw out Larkin's co-defensive player of the year in the ACC.. blah, blah, blah..... every coach knew Larkin had trouble guarding... as did his own coach. I wonder how Larkin would be looking defensively if his own coach hadn't switched him off the offensive perimeter player each game?

Exactly.. also the fact that Larkin is a lot less bulky than Burke is also a reason for consideration.

It's kinda like when Cy argued that Millsap is basically the same player as David West... Yes if you look purely at the numbers (pts, rebs), they're the same player, but on the court, both defensively and offensively West's bigger/bulkier/thicker body means players can't abuse him defensively as much as they do Millsap.

Yes.. like I've said before... it's very difficult to gauge one's defensive value from a box score.

Heigt means little. Wingspan means everything. Larking 5'11 wingspan, Burke 6'5 wingspan.

Think you just got owned, The Jazz Fan. ;)
