What's new

CJ McCollum: "This culture, is perfect for me."

PKM - Well if that is the case then there is no way the Jazz will have a shot at him. Even without his PG skills, I think the only way Utah gets CJ is if they move up.

I've never once said I believe he'll be on the board at 14. I'm discussing him along with everyone else, but not in the context of 'if' he falls to 14.

There is no way the Jazz won't be aggressively trying to move up. Much better to have one pick that is earlier than two where we have them.

Agree. Do what you must to establish your 5 starters and a 6th man. THEN you look to build around those guys, or upgrade one or two of them if you have the opportunity. Unless someone comes in and surprises the heck out of everyone (like Millsap did), I just don't see the Jazz getting a great player at 14 or 21. Rotation players, perhaps, but not impact starters.

If you could trade up what specific players would you be going after?

Trey Burke
Shabazz
Victor Oladipo

Nobody else. Shabazz is actually a stretch though. Depends on his character.

Edit: Ben McLemore but not likely of course.

His character is fine.

I like Burke, McCollum, Shabazz.. I'm not thrilled with Oladipo for the Jazz... we need shooters if we're going SG.

At SF I'd prefer a shooter that plays D and rebounds. kanter and Favors are already clogging the paint.

Even if McCollum turns out to be more a SG, you could do a lot worse than to have a Ben Gordon type coming off the bench. The Jazz would be very lucky to get him.

Well what if that type of player that you do not want is clearly the best player left at your pick? Do you go with a lesser talent just because he is not what you and I would prefer? Or do we draf thim adn just accept that it was the best we could do?

God, I'd hate to sit through a cross-exam with you :-)

I'd want someone who would be a contributing rotation player, regardless of position. It would make no sense to me to draft someone to fill a positional need but who has substantially less chance to be a good rotation player.

I understand the rationale for BPA, but I do think that has entered the realm of cliche and that positional needs do matter, though ought not to dominate.

I can string things out almost indefinetly if I want.

Too many acronyms out there. Its getting ridiculous. Just type what you are saying. Don't be lazy and make someone else look up what you were too lazy to type out.
