Lucas Nogueira to the Jazz at #14?

How would you feel if Nogueira went to the Jazz at #14? (Burke, McCollum, MCW are all gone)

Lucas Nogueira is a legit 7'0'' footer and weighs around 220 lbs. In Chad Ford's latest mock draft he has the Jazz taking Nogueira at #14 and this is what he had to say:

Yes, the Jazz are in the hunt for a point guard. But from what I can gather (and the Jazz are notoriously tight-lipped) the team isn't in love with any of the point guards who would be left on the board (Shane Larkin and Dennis Schroeder are the two most likely here). They also need bigs (both Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap are free agents this summer) and it looks as if they're open to using the draft to help address that need, as well. The Jazz have been high on Nogueira for a while, but his performance at the Eurocamp might have sealed the deal for this lithe, long, athletic shot-blocker. I don't think he'll be around when they draft again at 21.

Dennis Lindsey was at the Euro-Camp and Nogueira was said to be the MVP of the camp.

Personally I would be all for it for Nogueira to be the third big of the future and the Jazz don't have to take a point guard at #21 either if they take a big at #14 because why take one that you really don't want just because you need a point guard. My plan is if the Jazz don't feel sold on Schroeder or Larkin at #14 and Burke, McCollum, MCW are all gone I want them to go for a big and at #21 if Schroeder is not there they can go for a wing like Bullock, Snell, Franklin, then just take a point guard at #46.

My question to you is, how would you feel about the Jazz taking Nogueira at #14 considering (Burke, McCollum, MCW) are all not there?
 
If the Jazz brass takes this guy over Schroeder I'll trust they know what they are doing.

They've seen a lot more than we have, and have a lot of info we've never seen(interviews, workouts, video).

From what we know Bebe looks interesting. Adding size, and defense to our current bigs is exciting. We were used to shorter defense-less guys. Getting Bebe and
moving on from the past sounds good in theory.

I think something like Nogueira, Bullock or Karasev, and Wolters or Bongo would be a good draft. Means we go after a vet PG though unless we have
something else up our sleeve.

Gobert size I think trumps athleticism. But the biggest issue is the questioning of Noguiers motor and attitude. Not to mention Gobert is seen as a great defender. Where Noguiera's defense is a weakness and he has been called soft.

Someone that call soft and has a bad motor is someone I would stay away from.
 
Gobert seems to be a better player. He seems to understand how to use his body more than Noguiers.

Either way neither of these guys have a chance to play Center. They have the same problem as Tomic has. They have slender frames and cannot take the beating underneath. Even if they put more weight on they frame is still to slender. They won't be able to create space or hold space at the Center position.

BUT at the PF position these guys could be very effective. If they put on more weight they could be very good defenders against PF's because of the length and mobility that each of them have. With there current weight both will get abused in the NBA.

I say try and trade up for Burke. If we can't than trade down for a veteran player and a late first round pick. So we will have 2 late round picks. Or early 2nd if they still think someone will be there. I don't see a big difference between late lottery and end of first. Toss up.

In the day and age of guarding the pick and roll, Lucas could be more appealing though. He is simply faster and moves better laterally.
 
I would take Jeff Withey over either of these guys. If this guy was black he would be in the late lottery. Yes I am calling NBA fans and scouts racist.

The guy is athletic for someone his size. 7-3 wing span and seems to have a bigger frame than the other 2 guys. He averaged 3.9 blocks per game in 30 minutes. He is a good rebounder.

Draft express said he is one of the best man to man defenders and help defenders out of the big men. They said he rarely falls for pump fakes. Which is rare for a shot blocker. Something Favors needs to learn.
He also was rated at the highest FG% around the basket out of any of the players in the draft at 79%.

We could easily take him with the 21st pick. The problem is he doesn't have any potential and is already 23. But I would rather draft a for sure role player and rotation player than draft a high risk high reward player who most likely will never learn the fundamentals of the game.

I dunno, he screams Hassan Whiteside to me... he looks intriguing on paper, but he doesn't seem to have a lot of game to him.
 
I chose the "I am not sure" option. I will put my faith that the front office will make the smart pick. I have never heard of a lot of these guys.
