What are the chances a rookie is our starting PG this season?

Will a rookie be our starting PG at the start of the season?

Assuming its probably 100% that we draft a PG with either the 14th or 21st pick. Whats the chances that guy is our starting PG next season?

I think that has taken a hit with Sloan on board. We all know he is very against giving rookies lots of playing time and I am sure he will be suggesting to bring back Mo or another veteran PG.

So what are the chances?

Only scenario I see where the Jazz mananagment have a rookie PG starting is if they really are in full Tank mode.

I would say maybe 5%. Unless we move up and get Burke or of a similar caliber pg I just don't see it happening.

I wouldn't mind a rookie point guard. Don't see Ty Corbin allowing it, though.

So basically its either Mo Williams, Devin Harris or Jose Calderon. Unless that Jazz pull off some type of a trade.

You don't think it will have anything to do with there isn't a projected superstar in this draft and most projections last year and heading into this draft is that the talent level is borderline starter or back ups, granted I think I've heard it is deep with this level of player.

So lets take a step back, rookies come in and usually aren't as good as they will be in a few years combine that with the PG position IMO has the highest learning curve because of the responsibility and how much they have the ball in their hands. Now they aren't like big men that usually take longer to develop but as a rookie PG that is a lot of responsibility and things to learn. So this thread wants to take this PG that in all likely hood will be a borderline starter or back up into a guaranteed starter as a rookie no matter what?

Yeah nice reasonable expectations to put on the player and coaching staff their [/sarcasm]

Now if he earns it then great or if the Jazz FO decides not to bring in any FA PG and decides to sink or swim in hopes of getting better picks to build on next year that is different. Also if the Jazz did that I would expect the offense to be more like it was the first year with out S&M.

"Derp derp Corbin derp derp."

All the PG's the Jazz are able to draft will not be ready to start on this team. I can only see Burke getting a starting nod.

I'd say pretty low. I would think the Jazz will chase the best veteran PG who will take a 1 year deal. 2 years at most.

Will Mo Williams take a short deal? Maybe. I won't be shocked in the least to see Mo back again.

If the Jazz are really committed to tanking there is a chance they'll just start a rookie. There is a rumor that Cleveland is moving up to Dallas's pick to take Karasev. If that happens there is a fair chance that MCWs ends up our pick @14. Could I see the Jazz just giving him the starting gig? I could. It's what I'd do.

Could I also see the Jazz signing Calderon. Unfortunately I could.

I think the odds of having a rookie start for us depend a lot on who is on the board at #14. I don't see us starting the guy with pick at #21 as much. If MCWs is on the Jazz after draft night I think the odds are probably 40/60 we start a rookie. If we draft a guy like Noriega @14 I see maybe a 5% chance we start a rookie.

So, overall, I think the odds are very low to see a rookie start. Maybe 20%

I'd say less than 5% that we start a rookie. 35% we re-sign Mo Williams. 30% we sign a free agent. 10% we go with Burks as the starter. 20% we trade for a point.

100% chance.

Corbin ran out of excuses for not playing Kanter and Favors 36 minutes per game. A vet pg that can facilitate will help them grow in pick and roll. Corbin can't have that.

He'll demand O'Connor draft and play whatever rookie is bpga at #14. Because all he wants to do is hinder the growth of the young bigs and this team. That's the only way Greg Miller will give him a new contract.

Did I get the logic correct?
