If I'm Favors/Hayward ... I do not sign an extension

Reality is that we will be nowhere near a champion with Corbin as a coach.

Favors I feel will be special and if he wants the most money and wants to win, he needs to run out his rookie contract.

As for Gtime, I think I wait it out as well.

Doc Rivers has always liked him so I see Clippers(Doc)/Suns(Jeff)/Celtics(Stevens) going after Hayward in a big way.

Hayward is a smart player that needs a smart coach. He gets nothing but frustrated at stupidity.

Now, if you are the Jazz FO, you need to sign these 2 to an extension this summer if you believe in them.

I am very interested to see what they are offered.

Jazz will want to extend them because they'll likely get them cheaper.

Favors and Hayward would be restricted free agents if they don't extend. Jazz will match any reasonable offer.

Favors and Hayeard will sign extensions.... They'll want security!

I hope we can sign them this summer. If they get over inflated stats because we don't have more talent we will be over paying.

I hope we sign them both as well.

Dangerous year if we do not, If we do not, and if they both start and have great years, which I expect, they will both draw inflated deals elsewhere that will be tough to match.

I see Favors as a 12-14 million / year player. He will get offered Max if he plays it out.

Hayward I see as 10-12 million / year. He will get offered 13-14 range if he has a great year.

We'll see.

You do realize that 12-14 IS the max Favors can get, right?

This. Sign them ASAP. Their value is average right now and I have a feeling it will be much higher after this upcoming season.

I think you're about 2 million too high for both based on current value.

Winner. Favors is a DeAndre Jordan type player (and yes, everyone here WILDLY overrates him. Right now he is our third best player behing Hayward and Kanter). You start Favors at 10 million a year right now.

Hayward comp's put him around 10-11 per year to start as well. If you are the Jazz, sign them now. They are safe bets, especially if you can get both for 20 million.

favors will probably get the max
10-12 mil is a bit much for hayward, 6-9 seems moar reasonable to ruca

As of right now Favors is Jordan with a better free throw %. 10 million is just about right.

If you can lock up both for 20 million a year then Lindsey/Jazz is the biggest winner.

This is why I am constantly amused by all the glee and jubiliation at the Burke pick. Its not like as if the Jazz didnt have any lotto picks on their roster before Burke. They had like 4. Thats never been the problem. The big problem, the elephant in the room no one talks about, is the Jazz's willingness to break the bank, to pay up extra if needed, to retain all these picks if all of them play well. That is the challenge right there. Otherwise, we are even further away from sort of contention than we were in 2005.And with Al gone and maybe Maillsap following him, there wont be a whole lot of tradeable players on the Jazz rosterwho can fetch impact players on return.

BTW, if Favors gets the max as somebody suggested earlier, Lindsey should get the boot

If Hayward and Favors are doing well with the Jazz they should extend with the Jazz. It's their third contract that will make them the most money in all likelihood.

The glee and jubilation was not because he was a lottery pick, it's because he is a point guard, and a very good one. and yes, we have had lotto picks on our team, but up until now (hopefully), they haven't been given the time on the court. I do agree with you however, re the problem the jazz face with trying to keep everyone together.

He was the best PG in a weak draft, that does'nt say a whole lot about how he is going to play at the highest level, especially when his defense has received mixed reviews

That said, iam happy that the Jazz were proactive and all that in grabbing him, but if they are banking on "develop all lotto picks simulatenously and compete for contention" model, there is no such model like that. If it is there, it is going to cost a lot and the Jazz dont have Durants or Hardens exactly with their lotto picks, but they would till have to pay up a lot to retain Hayward or Favors

I'm so sick of these doom and gloom posts! Why so freaking negative?!? We're not letting Gordon or Derrick go anywhere.
