What places do you like to hit here in Utah for Greek?

from experience the greeks do not give you food if you hit them

my advice would to be find a greek resteraunt and walk in

ask to be seated if they dont seat you at first

if they still refuse service just call them racist and write a negative review on some kind of publication

maybe your local paper

or an online site like yelp or urban spoon

something like this

"i went here to eat greek food and they wouldnt seat me. must be racist. 1/5 stars for having a nice parking lot"

Date a Greek. Seriously. It's worth it just for the homemade cooking. Since I've left my ex I have never found anything close. I need to date another Greek.

Do they slice their meat from a rotating spit?

I'm pretty sure they do although I admit I don't go there as much as I go to Apollo Burger (location), and they slice their meat off a spit.

Greek Souvlaki has been around a really long time. It was my dad's favorite from before I was in kindergarten. Besides really good gyros they have really good dolmathes and (go figure) souvlaki. My dad was a huge fan of Greek food and made far better souvlaki than any greek burger joint I've ever been to. Mmm, I miss it A LOT.

There used to be a decent sit down Greek place, Cafe Mediterranean I think, but the owner died or sold it to his daughter and the last time I was there every last worker seemed like they were on Meth, the fat sloppy cook kept coming into dining area and leering at everyone. The waitress get super distracted when her buddy showed up and needed to talk to her (I figured her fix had arrived) and the food had gone way downhill. Too bad, they had some interesting stuff on the menu.

Which Apollo Burger? I went to the one in Orem a few years back, and I'm nearly certain they just used prepackaged gyro meat. Didn't make me want to come back, especially.

I go to the Apollo on Redwood and 78th S. I can see the spit from the drive-thru window and the meat isn't all uniform like the prepackaged kronos stuff. Maybe it's a Utah county vs SL county thing. I think most the greek burger joints I've been in have the spit.

Apollo burger is ok if you're looking for inferior burgers and so/so Gyros.

Crown burger is the standard to which all "GreekBurger" places should be set. Fantastic burgers.. pastrami's always good. Yes on the rotating spit. And the lemon rice, although microwaved, is pretty dang good. They make a mean BLT too.

But Greek Souvlaki is fantastic! Fast Food Spaghetti with Mizithra and Garlic Butter shouldn't be this good. Try the pita/dip trio they have there.

Apollo, Crown and Astro are all clones of each other if you ask me. I haven't enjoyed their gyros anymore than I have Apollo's. I think there's more variation from location to location within each franchise than there is from franchise to franchise.
