Following potential 2014 draftees

From the almighty DX:

Taylor sports a slow, deliberate release, not looking all that confident hoisting up shots past 17-18 feet, and seeing streaky results even from that range.

Taylor shot a solid 35% from deep his rookie year.

He looked like a NBA player in SL. I could tell he noticeably improved every aspect of his game.

MKG looked like the same player he was last year.

Yeah, he looked like a 24 year old. In my defense MKG shouldn't have gone #2 and I think everyone knows that.

OT: Another very good game for Archie Goodwin today. 20 pts in 27 minutes, 5-5 fg, 2-2 on threes, 8-10 fts, 3 reb, 2 ast and 2 blocks. He is definitely shutting me up so far.* Maybe he just needed better players around him.

Maybe he needed a better coach.

I think the lack of pressure is helping him. Ball is in Marshall's hands, no questions asked. He can do what he's good at, that dribble drive game with an occasional pull up.

I think getting picked as late as he was is going to help him. Also the fact that most players are trying to "prove themselves" as well all at the same time (Morris Twins, Marshall, Bledsoe, Alex Len) puts even less pressure on him to be outstanding. He can develop at his own pace without everyone scrutinizing everything he does (the way Calipari did - sorry PKM). I think the pressure to perform at UK was probably too much for him. They didn't have a legit PG to feed him the ball and he was still really young.

He'll be fine in Phoenix.

Nice cherry-picking from literally the second mention he ever got on that site from 4 years ago.

Let's talk about more relevant scouting from the same site:

Most notably, Taylor has turned into an excellent jump shooter, knocking down an outstanding 43.2% of his 5.3 attempts per 40 minutes pace adjusted while ranking as one of the best perimeter shooters amongst small forwards in our database. To put this feat in perspective, he was making 9.1% of 0.5 attempts per 40 minutes pace adjusted just two years ago. His form has improved significantly, far quicker and more fluid than in the past. Furthermore, though he is primarily a spot-up shooter at this stage in his career, his form stays relatively consistent with or without a hand in his face.

Maybe your point is that MKG will suddenly dramatically improve as a jump-shooter and using Taylor as an example that that can happen. Maybe MKG fixes his busted-*** shot, but until he does, it's a busted-*** shot and he will struggle to stay on the court in a way that is beneficial to his team. At least for such a heralded, hyped player.
