What's new

Warriors waived Kevin Murphy :/

He was extremely unspecial. I don't know why people care.

One of the biggest second round duds Utah's ever drafted.

He would be perfect for the tank!

Imagine a lineup of

Lucas
Clark
Murph
Evans
Biendrins

The OFFICIAL "We gettin Wuggins, so step out of da way, bishes" lineup.

*That actually made the team

Goran Sutton comes to mind as a dud that never even played. Wasn't that also the same draft that we didn't draft Matthews?

It was sad watching Murphy desperately try to score whenever he got in the game. At first I understood, then it was comical, then down right sad.

They also cut last years Jazzfanz "underrated guy who the Jazz should sign" Scott Machado, not that it matters just thought I'd add that.

Just because a player can hit an open shot doesn't mean that he can play in the NBA. The pressure in the NBA is much higher than in college and he just didn't cut it. I agree, he saw nothing but the hoop when he got the ball.

I think Utah would have to wait a certain duration of time, maybe the whole season under this new CBA, to re-sign a player that they traded away. It used to be 30 days, I think, but now it might be 6-months. D-League, Europe, or Bust for Murphy.

"Under the 2011 CBA, a player acquired in a trade and waived by his new team cannot re-sign with his original team until one year after the trade or July 1 after the expiration of his contract, whichever is sooner.[SUP][6]"[/SUP]

Being a sub 190 lb SG doesn't help either.

Has any player been traded for 8 players before then cut a month later? That's got to be some sort of record. Murphy is now immortalized in NBA history

Heck, has one player ever been traded for 8 players before? We literally traded Murphy for an 8 man rotation. Crazy.

Under the new CBA Jazz can't pick him back up for 30 or 60 days - something like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they invited him to camp. Not an NBA player though. Even during garbage time he looked woefully outmatched physically.

I can't feel too sorry for the guy. 2nd round picks are a craps shoot at best and he wasn't nba talent. He made it to the nba which can only help him get playing time in Europe or Asia. I know it isn't good for him to get cut from a team, but considering his size at that position he probably shouldn't have been drafted in the first place
