Dating to the 2001-02 preseason (when this data became readily available), 17 teams entered regular-season competition with just one loss or fewer on their preseason résumés. In the regular season, all but one of them became playoff teams, averaging about 49 victories in the upcoming campaign.

hopefully Jerry will rest the starters for the rest of the regular season, so they'll be fresh for the first round.

So Memphis and Cleveland are going to make the playoffs?

Cleveland lost twice, so the stat doesn't apply to them.

But yes, that does imply that Memphis will make the playoffs. A prediction I made, by the way, in the General NBA forum about a week ago.

Wait a minute weren't we that (1) team?!? Didn't we go 7-1 in the pre-season the first year Stock/Malone were gone, but barely missed the playoffs?
