I believe in Liberty

I believe in liberty and being open-minded, but not so open-minded that one's brain falls out. The op is nuts. And by nuts and mean...hehepeepeecaca.

No you don't.
I think allowing our country to have the highest # of inmates both per capita and total, is nuts. Nothing in the op includes an activity that victimizes anyone else.

not wear a seat belt
smoke in a bar(so long as the owner is ok with it)
burn flags
pay/get paid for sex
purchase and use mind altering substances
go where ever I want without a passport
pay a non-licensed beautician to cut my hair

Which one of these would you like me to start with, guy?

Let's start with the first one, just for hell's sake.

Not wear a seat belt. OK, cool if you don't wanna wear one, fine. However, what about people with children? "Nah, kids, you ain't gotta buckle up." Crash, death, who's at fault?

Sometimes laws are in place because, well, people are super stupid. Government sometimes (should I dare say it?) tries to protect people from themselves and from their guardians. But let me guess, anarchism FTW, right?

Does this make me not believe in liberty because I think parents should be held accountable for buckling up their children for their safety? I think not, guy.

I'm cool with that whole list.

Let's start with flag burning. Seems fairly innocuous.

We live in the U.S.A. We don't burn it out of respect to those who died for it. A nation that allows people to burn something that is a symbol for freedom, pride, patriotism, etc is surely headed in the wrong direction imo.

Children are not adults and are not given full rights(voting, drinking, curfew, etc.) society does have a resposiblity to protect them. I was clearly speaking about adults. I also never said we should allow children to smoke crack.(just in case you try to use this bs argument again)

I think allowing it is a sign of strength and supreme dignity.

You want to burn our flag? Have at it chucklehead, we'll make more...and we'll wrap your head in one and beat you to death with a hammer.

The flag is the symbol of the modern government. I don't think people died for the flag but rather the principles that this country was founded on. If the government ceases to live up to those principles burning a flag is absolutely appropriate.

I agree to disagree, guy.

The flag is the embodiment of those principles. So you bet your *** our guys see that flag and hold the line. I think burning it is a huge middle finger to them and the ideals they stood for.

By disgracing their symbol you disgrace them and all Americans. Disgusting.

Lemme approach the seat belt thing from another angle:
It's a proven that seat belts reduce the damage a human body takes during an accident. The state provides an infrastructure that enables you to utilize roads in a safe way that's beneficial for both yourself and your government. Dieing at an early age(which is a usual time when people refuse to take security measures) doesn't benefit the government since it has made an investment through the educational period called youth. Being a productive part of society is the governments interest to get a return of invest through taxes or creating workplaces or doing social voluntary work in a community to help others. By having increased death risk while using a infrastructure built to primarily increase the productivity of an area is counterproductive to its investment.
Another POV is that not using a seat belt results in an increased probability that your body breaks through the windshield which usually results in severe mutilation of the corpse. I pay taxes to get both physical and psychological safety in public. Having a mutilated corpse in front of my car instead of a heavily injured individual in an airbag puts me and medical staff trained to "clean up" the situation in an increased risk to suffer a trauma from it. That's neither in my interest, nor my governments as REM sleep deprivation most likely decreases ones value for society at least temporarily and causes costs.

Damn, Jordan shoots, makes it and wins. He didn't push off this time either.

For the record. I agree. I think liberty includes the liberty to be a douche.

I have never burned a flag and grew up around veterans and so was raised with the flag is to be respected and should not even touch the ground(let alone be burned). The only way I would ever consider burning a flag is if the government spat on the memories of those soldiers and the constitution they died for. Since I don't see the constitution being thrown out any time soon I never will.

So why do you think liberty involves burning our countries flag? I mean, you said I'm not for liberty cause I disagreed.
