Egyptian Emergency

The problem is it's a military crackdown and they already fought it out with the state police 2 years ago. They overthrew a dictator and now their military is using US weapons to perform a coup on a democratically elected president.

Exactly.

Which is why we need to stay out and let them figure out their own problems.

How likely do you think it is that the world will see a straight up war between Shi'a and Sunni in the middle east.

War in Syria
Increased tensions and attacks in Lebanon
Increased tensions and attacks in Egypt
Attcks in Iraq
Sunnis (Qatar, Saudi Arabia) funding one side
Shi'a (Iran, Syria gov.) funding the other

I think Israel would be incredibly lucky if they were able to stay out of that one^

That would be the most stupid war of the history, even more stupid than the Honduras-El Salvador war.

However, I don't think it will be(a straight up war), because the current situation (all the strifes and conflicts) are much better for all the parties' interests, even for themselves. They, Sunnis and Shia, do not want war as well as they do not want peace either.

Been to Egypt twice. Never had any issues. Should be said that at most times American tourists are accompanied by a security person with an Uzi under his jacket. Mubarrak wasnt so bad after all. Christians there have to feel really scared right now. By the way most Egyptian weapons are still Soviet/Russian varieties. We send money/aid to Egypt to try to make sure it does not fall in the hands of Islamist radicals.

Some would label the Muslim Brotherhood, of which the ousted president was a member, a radical group. We supported them over Mubarak.

The Muslim brotherhood was working within a political structure without real power(they were thrown out by a military coup).
As long as they were involved in a legitimate political process they were essentially defanged. I would bet that many members who were not "Radicalized" have become so after the military killed 600+ civilians yesterday alone.

The fact that El Baradei, a Nobel Laureate, liberal, and western favorite who supported the overthrowing of Morsi, resigned his post as Interim Vice-President is proof that things have gotten out of hand with the military.
