I'm not sure I ever saw this video on this site. More awesomeness from Prodigy.

I hope Ian gets his shot as backup PG (in the style of a Gary Neal, who comes in to put pressure on the defense with his scoring which extends WAY out) over JL3rd.

Thanks for the vid. I'm not sure he'll ever do anything meaningful, but agree I would like to see him get a chance.

I've always liked rooting for the under dogs. This year is seeing what the young guys can do so I'm sure he'll get some good looks.

Agreed that he can be a Gary Neal type signing...

You're posting is getting better NAOS.

If you tell me my posting is getting better, then it isn't.

If you tell me this in a condescending way, with pats on the ****ing back, then I'm planning my whole next stage of thread killing. It's best if you stop evaluating me. Cuz I straight up dislike your take.

Nah I was being sincere, as I have always been.

I actually see a real intelligent basketball player. Just watch his little moves he does to get free. Even after rebounds, he knows how to fake guys to free up space. Not too many young guys know how to do that. His interviews only confirm that intelligence and maturity.

He's actually the player I'm most excited to see play this year.

Really? Even more than Burke?

Cool personality. Nice skill set. Except for the part he shoots. He can shoot. But with that forward leaning release, he will get blocked when his shot is contested. The best possible backup PG for Trey Burke and they will develop their games together with the same roster.

^yep. First thing I noticed was his awkward shooting mechanics. Will have to see if he can run our offense. With what the jazz have up front a pass first pg should get some open looks though.

Look again when he does shoot it. He rarely shoots it contested. He always seems to find a way to break lose from his defender. The great thing I've noticed about him, is that he doesn't fall in love with a particular shot. He's very creative and shoots it no matter the spot on the floor. He's not wreckless, either. He actually reminds me of how Stockton would break free from his defenders as well. You either have it or you don't.

Burke will be fine, but he's all cliches and t-shirts at this point. He's more worried about creating his brand then actually focusing on getting better. :) lol

Seriously, my type of player are guys with heart and intelligence. There's a reason why Stockton was my favorite. I liked Malone for his heart and never-say-die attitude. Even Ostertag had heart but just was lazy half the time.

What about Burke? Well, Burke hasn't shown what he's all about yet. I can tell he has talent. I can also tell he has an ability to focus when he wants to. I'm just worried he'll suffer from CJ-itis and keeps shooting now matter what. That's not good. Instead, how about try a different approach? Start passing more and defending? Maybe attack the rim and drawing fouls instead of those hero shots?

He says he's been watching tape on Tony Parker and Chris Paul. How about taking a step back and learn the fundamentals first? You can't always take off-balance leaning shots and expect them to go in. He tends to overreact to his defender and make this dramatic shot like they're this ultra-awesome defender. Truth is, young NBA hopefuls are usually fast and have quicker reactions than in the regular NBA. He won't face that kind of intensity on a nightly basis. He needs to relax and just try new things to expand his game and polish the old stuff that got him here. Don't overthink it.

You ask am I more excited for Clark than Burke? Yes. Burke has a lot of work to do. I've seen too many of those kind of players that have talent but are a big question mark. Clark, to me, is more proven and has the skills that I can relate to. After all, I'm Batman. :) Seriously, Clark's game reminds me of my own in my weekend warrior days. I wasn't half-bad. I just had bad knees and feet. ;)

We need more intelligent, quality shooters and players on this roster, that know how to use their bodies already and have a humble attitude about the team. I'm not saying Burke doesn't have that. I'm just saying that I'm hearing more about his off-the-court promo stuff when he should be promoting his workouts and stuff that actually matters to the team's success. Being an example for everyone else is his job as point guard, right? Plus, he's acting like he's already the star of the team. That would bug me a little. Then again, it is a business and he is marketing his product. It's hard to blame him for making the most of it. He is working hard. I'll give him that.

Also, his work ethic will most likely help him prevail in the end. Guys who are willing to work hard usually always get better every year. "Myagi have a hope for you." :)

As for Clark? He's shown me that I can safely say, "Let it fly!" :)

Sweet! Can't wait!

Fantastic post. I don't agree with all of it but it is fantastic!

I agree with most of this. The key point being Clark has a fully developed offensive game and a mature outlook on his game. He knows what is a good shot for himself and what isn't.

Burke on the other hand has a partially developed offensive game at the NBA level. On the watching Paul and Parker, he specially said he was watching their Pick and Roll tape. Pick and roll is/was his bread and butter.

Biggest mistake Clark made during pre draft was working out as a point guard. He isn't one, not to say that he couldn't sub as one in a pinch, but he should have worked out as a 2, then he might have gotten a look in the second round. As it is, he's ok, he's got a guaranteed contract, but it was a risk for sure.

He will either get time behind Burke as a 1 or time at the 2 while Burks backs up Burke at the 1. Beyond that, there really isn't much time out there for him unless he outplays someone.

Did anyone else just experience a rise in confidence over Sir Clark? Good signs arrive in a multitude of ways. Thanks CiCi
