Okur's reaction for Kanter's situation

So what's the connection of NCAA decision due to his former team Fenerbahce and his tweets about NT? so Okur was too much sensitive for the situation too? I do not think so. It's for sure he's gotta make some changes on his attitude to get the same support form Turkish fans. Basketball is just not about physical but more of that mentality and motivation.

True. And I am not worried.

That is completely false. It has tons to do with it. Remember that Enes is still quite young and was a kid when all this was going down. He has also since learned how these teams do this stuff all the time.. and he hates it, generally. You don't have to like it and perhaps you shouldn't, but it might be healthy to try to have a bit more empathy for Enes and his personal situation rather than blind homerism for country. (and I think you're a helluva poster, btw)

It's not homerism. You just mixing two different situations. Not being able to play in the NCAA unfairly due to his former team is sure sad but there's not any point to tweet bye bye after your NT eliminated. It's all about attitude.

I am.

Who is going to care for all the shattered players that Enes leaves in his wake? We might need to call in the Red Crescent. That way Kanter can show his countrymen that he cares about people.

Why do I feel like I have just parachuted into Turkey, alone, wielding only a butter knife, and wearing Kentucky gear..

I've been watching this all since the beginning.. Geez.. I'd not wanto to be Enes now. Millions of Turks are frustrated. Thousands directly shared their unpleasant words with him either on Twitter, on various online platforms and probably his phone too.

To understand why you gotta understand the difference between Turks and Americans. Turks are emotional people who overreact very often. And for them, national team is a matter of honor of some kind, serious business.. So.. Turkish NT lost all three games playing hideous basketball all the way. This was not a surprise for most because NT is terribly managed and coached lately. Turkoglu who got 20-game suspension from the NBA for using PEDs is the ****ing captain!!

So.. After Turkey loses their last game Kanter suddenly tweets "Hahhahahahaha". This is something unheard of! In people's minds a Turk is never supposed to be hahaing when Turks lose. So just after minutes 1000s learn about this infamous tweet and attack Kanter violently. He then deletes it and writes a new tweet: "I wrote it to my brother, calm down haha" This even fuels the fire more as people don't believe it.

He is on national newspapers, almost officially disliked by basically everyone. Today Memo tweets "You should not have done it no matter what".
Kanter's problems with the NT started last year when he decided to stay in the US in summer instead of joining and playing some games with the NT. I think he made the right decision then! His conditioning was great thanks to his summer program. But people don't understand. Now I am not sure if he will ever play for Turkish NT. Hell, I can even imagine him getting an American passport and totally abandoning Turkey.

Yes, he made a mistake but people are really overreacting.

This guys is the future of Utah Jazz.. This is the time to show your support and let everyone know Jazz fans are with him! GO: https://twitter.com/Enes_Kanter

I'm not mixing them up. Perhaps Enes is.. but what I can tell you is HE is feeling the way I described and that is a fact.. whether it computes properly or not.
I'm right, you're wrong.

We agree he shouldn't have tweeted tho.

Wasn't there something in the Eurobasket thread about the influence of Fenerbahce on the national team? Some behind the scenes shenanigans?
I can totally understand Enes prioritizing the preparation on his first season as a starter to make a breakthrough, combined with the reservation on long term health coming off an injury.
Add to that problems with the politics behind the NT's roster and you have 3 good reasons to sit this summer out.

VERY good post. Fair and balanced. Nice work.

As a jazz fan, sure i will be supporting him playing for this organization but after he's tweeting about radical islamic community (he deleted all his playboy list and old tweets), now this makes me worried about his attitude. Hopefully he understands the importance of mentality and attitude.

At this point it is just a part of him. They have molded.

When I finished school back in the days it was usual for all graduates to have a car parade through the city(motorcade is the translated word I found, no clue if it's ever used).
Simply to piss people off we sported a redneck flag on the car. So I got experience dressing Kentucky style.
To put it into context, I think that flag is prolly the 3rd most hated flag for most Germans with the top2 being illegal to showcase in public ;)

I also think that none agrees with what Kanter tweeted. PKM simply offered a look behind the scenes and what might have influenced his decision. Now he gotta live with the repercussions.
So....FREE PKM?

From wayyy outside looking in it seems like Turks think Enes owes them something, hell everything. He already got screwed and maybe he feels like he doesn't belong to Turkey and doesn't have to take anymore hits in order to show national pride or support BBall in Turkey.

His attitude seems great to me!

I got yo back bra.

I bet Kanter feels the same way you do in this post. Given his story, I think he's allowed to be a little angsty.

Thanks.

But if Kanter had played for UK, T'Wolves would have taken him 2nd overall, leaving us Derrick Williams.

so thanks to Fenerbahce, the Jazz was able to draft Kanter.

Case closed.
Or, had Kanter played collage ball, maybe Cle. Picks him #1 and we get Irving, because Min already has Rubio.
You're the BEST Enes!!! We LOVE YOU!!!
don't worry Enes, kkk is just creepy. He can't do anything more than drool.

yes. I'd have made it way more personal. I don't know what went down, but sounds like he got royally screwed to the tune of epic proportions. He lost two years of his b-ball life. This.... This was the real crime. Every last Turk should put themselves in his shoes before they condemn him. It's a testament to his character that he was drafted third in the draft after losing 2 years of his basketball life..

I'd have done much worse then Enes did.
