Yeah Spain are masters of calculated losses when it comes to group stages. Lost to Brasil last Olympics just to avoid USA till finals, and now lost to Italy in last few minutes after having double digit lead which to me was obviously calculated as they preferred Serbia over Lithuania. When 4th seed beats 1st seed 90-60 it just proves what they are capable off.
 
And Slovenia unfortunately bows out. France vs Spain in first semifinal. Will Parker finally be able to lead his team over Spain? BTW all elimination games are on NBA TV now.
 
Tied first quarter in Ukraine vs Croatia game. Tomic so far is disappearing against tough and physical Ukraine front line. Man, that would be historic win if Ukraine somehow advanced.

Croatia got the control of the game. If they can stand one more quarter they will beat their quarter finals curse.

Been a long time since Croatia has done this well in a major tournament. Definitely in the easier side of the quarters. It will be a tough opponent next no matter who wins. Go Krunoslav. I was in Croatia in 97 during the Bulls/Jazz finals. With Kukoc playing saw a few minutes on the hotel's tv. Was a wee bit drunk at the time though.
 
Italy vs Lithuania is about to start. I am interested if Lithuanian coach will matchup with Italian small ball or it will force them to adjust by using his huge size advantage upfront.
 
Good close game so far between Italy and Lithuania. Lithuania has 1 pt lead after half.
 
This is my favorite 1/4 final matchup so far. Maybe because I'm always rooting a little for Lithuania. I felt they started coasting a little bit after their lead got close to double digits.
 
Lithuania wins 81-77 in a strange "small ball" type game dominated by guards. Semi's will be classic - archirivals Spain vs France and great basketball schools/history from Croatia and Lithuania.
 
In classification games for 5th to 8th place, Slovenia beat Serbia 92-74 and Ukraine beat Italy 66-58.

Thus, Ukraine will finish Eurobasket 2013 either 5th or 6th, it is a remarkable achievement for Ukrainian basketball and coach Fratello.
