What's new

The Walking Dead

You just have to let it slide. The premise that the army, navy, air force, and marines were wiped out but rick survived alone and in a coma is ridiculous, but more entertaining.

It isn't ridiculous at all actually. It makes sense in that they were fighting, often probably hand to hand, an enemy that Rick didn't even see as he was out of it. I would expect the military to lose a lot of people to this thing. It is more unlikely that Rick survived his original wounds than that he survived the zombie apocolypse. We have seen plenty of times where zombies can't or won't open doors, so his being blocked was more than enough considering he wasn't making any noise.

It is ridiculous that there appears to be no military presence AT ALL. That is silly. Somewhere, even if it were on an aircraft carrier like World War Z, there would have to be larger groups left, as it took a while for people to turn, unlike World War Z. Of course, we are following a relatively small group of people in a limited geographic area, so they may just have not run across the military fortifications on some military base somewhere that is the center of the new united states government working to rebuild society.

So does "something got in", or whatever the catch phrase is, refer to swine flu? Two dead or dying pigs and then the kid. Did Darryl kill that kid when he licked his fingers and then shook his hand?

Non-spoiler: apparently the new kid with the glasses does the voice of Phineas. My wife was excited to inform me of that.

Kind of a ho hum way to start the season, but hopefully it will get more entertaining in the next episodes.

Talking Dead says it gets gorier and more emotional tense very quickly. Sounded like it happens in the next two episodes.

Actually, I thought it was a particularly strong episode. At some point these characters needed to fall into a daily routine of just living without any particular goal in mind. This episode was all about that. They had set up a rudimentary form of government (that "council" that was referred to a couple of times) and we got the sense that their lives in the prison had all become perfectly ordinary. I liked that. It struck me as more realistic than most of last season dealing with the Governor. Real life typically doesn't have arch-villains, and strong TV shows don't need them either.

I dont remember it getting gorier. If anything the next few episodes are less gory and more meta.

So I've come to the conclusion Dr.S is the guy transmitting the flu and feeding rats to the walkers and he works for the "Guvner".

I believe it to be so.

With no spoilers (just in case) can someone tell me if this show is at all worth fighting through the horrible 2nd season for?

It's probably the worst written/acted show I have ever seen. Season 1 was alright, Season 2 unimaginably bad.

Does it get any better? Last episode I watched was they finally found the girl theyve wasted like 5 episodes looking for and killed her cuz she was a zombie.

Should I press on or just quit?

Season 3 has more action in it. Some human v human as well as the zombies. I personally love the show but if you feel that "It's probably the worst written/acted show I have ever seen" why waste anymore of your time?

If it's not for you it's not for you.

The reason I kept watching is because I know quite a few people that love the show and have been trying to get me to watch it.

I'm not sure if you remember, but I'm at the point in season 2 where they have been at that dude's farm doing absolutely nothing for like 5 episodes. Does it pick up after that or is this the tone of the show?
