Preseason Game: The Jazz @ Lakers ...Countdown to the Regularity...

Regarding Ian Clark's guaranteed money: according to Sham Sports he has $200K guaranteed this season, which means the Jazz are paying him for the first ~33 games. Expect him to stick that long unless someone really outplays him at a position where the need is greater.

Team option the second year. So I don't know how that plays into it.

I would rather have'em both on the floor. I really like Lucas III and it would help the defensive match-ups. On the fast breaks, the defender would be confused which one is who from behind look.

I fell into same delusion couple of times when watchin pre-season games cause their beards looks alike and they both got a head like a ****ing orange.

Looks like Utah can rebound well and there are a couple of guys (Hayward, Burks, Burke and Lucas) that can get assists. Good to see Favors get 3 assists. Nice to see him start to develop that part of his game. Glad to see Gobert get some time over Biedrins. 16 offensive rebounds is good.

Jazz missed way to many FTs (shot 61% from the line) and are still shootign a low percentage over all (40%). Ty needs to start palying the starting 5 more. Only 2 games left in the preseason, he better not keep Kanter around 20 mpg... Cook really shot 14 times? 9 of which are threes? Hayward only had one more shot than him in 11 more minutes. Seems awefully chucky.

Where's Jerel McNeal or Michael Stockton when you need them?

He is only playing Kanter 20 mpg? Lol. Kanter just can't catch a break. I'm starting to wonder if Kanter plays more than 25 mins a game this year. smh

I'd be immensely surprised if that were the case. I think they're just bringing him in slowly because of the injury. I don't think there's any point in rushing things, especially with Burke injured to start the season.

Watching people try and draw meaning inferences from preseason games is funny. Kanter only played 20 minutes because no starters played the 4th. Because Corb wasn't trying to win the game. Cook had that many shots because he's gunning hard trying to make the team. And in this informal setting he has nothing to lose

How dare people make observations! Off with their heads!!!

On a serious note if you are trying to make the team and you are a PF why take 9 3point shots? 9!

No starters played the 4th and yet Corbin still found time to play Favors 28 minutes, Burks 29 and Hayward 31. If anything I think it is that Kanter is not quite game shape due to the injury being over the summer and affecting his offseason work and prep.

Cook was on fire from 3 and had brought us back in the game. And the game's rec league style and (un)seriousness of play had already been established. Didn't Cook make 5 of those threes? 5/9 ain't shabby. That's why you shoot that many 3s when trying to make team, to show you can make them

I thought there were a lot of positives in the game. People are overanalyzing the preseason performances. Kanter will be fine, he is still recovering from his injury besides be very inexperienced. Right now I agree that Burks should be the starting PG and when Burke is back he should be the backup PG. As far as the bench goes, of course it is bad right now because the Jazz are playing scrubs. I think getting back Burke, Marvin Williams and Brandon Rush will automatically make the bench better. Every player needs to improve some part of their games and I believe as time goes they will get better. If they don't then the door will open quickly for them to be traded or released.

I doubt the Jazz cut scrubs simply because they are in LA. If they had another game in another city then I think they might be more likely to cut some players.
I think the players with the best chance are Clark (partial guarantee), and Cook. I don't think any of the wings has showed enough to stick.

This to the bolded part. Tonight will be the last time that I can comfortably enjoy watching the team in preaseason. Ty had better use a regular rotation. OR ELSE!

this.

I especially agree that Burks should start + Burke should backup when he gets back (at least until he gets his feet back under him).

Burke+Marvin+Rush/Jefferson could be a decent bench. I wish we had updates on these guys.

He was 3-9 from deep and that is 33% Not exactly on fire.

Edit: If you want to make the team there are better ways as a PF. Show good passing skills, a midrange J, ability to defend the paint and rebound. Keep in mind this is a guy fighting to make a team not a prime Nowitzki we are talking about.
