Thought I'd share this with you all.

Hey! Remember when I told you be careful what you wish for when you wished to get rid of big Al? Well, jazz are dead last in field-goal percentage, scoring, and turnovers. Wow!

I love my brother, but he's easily the dumbest jazz fan around.

My response.

And on track to draft one of Wiggins, Parker, Randle, or Andrew Harrison. I knew we would be bad and lose lots of games. We can't win a chip without a Bona fide star. I'm sick of mediocrity. What's the point of just making or missing the playoffs every year?? Either get beat 4-0 in the playoffs or the last pick in the lotto. Neither will help at all. This is the definition of insanity.

Worlds greatest Al fan. We've been arguing this for a long time now

Ha!

Only two short years ago you argued defiantly that tanking was highly offensive and immoral.

Forgive me, but this is stupid! I didn't bother to read anyone's posts in this stupid thread. I'm not trying to be a troll or aggravate anyone. I strongly believe winning breeds winning, you can quot me on that!

In my eyes losing is never acceptable under any circumstances. I believe as coach or owner you put your team and players in position to succeed. I don't care if the next Jordan Shaq or Malone is in the upcoming draft.

Rebuild is a word losers use as an excuse, it's a word losers use to make them feel better. I guess I'm old school. I hear lots of people say "give the youg guys the playing time". "They need time on the court to get better" That in my mind is false. If they are ready they will get the minutes. If they aren't ready let them sit learn patience and the game. Let them wait for there shot. Far to often some of these hotshot young upstarts want it all right now and find they can't handle the rigors of the pros, lose confidence and are never heard from again.

Those that are patient work and wait there turn learn the nuances of the game and winning intangibles, learn their roles that help the team win. Today everyone wants to be the star. Winning ball doesn't work like that. Rebuild is a word we use for teams that suck and don't know how to win.

I say we have the players in place to win now I think we have two future stars in Hayward, and Favors, we need to surround them with players that know their roles we dont need more stars we don't need to lose games to get more players! If we win players that can help the team win will want to play here. I'm not talking about the stars I'm talking about the better role players we need to build a cohesive unit to build winning. Both Favors and Hayward sat the bench and learned the game, and when there numbers were called they were prepared and played well. Because they were prepared when they got the chance there weren't any surprises. Now they will be ready to take the next step by doing the heavy lifting for this team.

I think Kanter has a bright future in the league. But giving him minutes this year will hurt the jazz, sorry Sepanol. He in my opinion should be behind Jefferson favors Millsap and even Okur (if healthy) and Evans. Burks our other lotto pick, I feel is a little more ready for minutes then Kanter. He should start behind Hayward, Harris, Miles, Watson, but ahead of Bell. The players we have now is enough to construct a team to contend for a championship we have one more lottery pick coming via the Warriors, let's hope the guys we have can learn together how to win. If that means Kanter starts his career with no minutes and Burks gets sporadic minutes like Hayward did last year then that's what it takes.

Remember it took 12 or 13 years of status quo before John and Karl were championship worthy. Even Jordan considered the greatest of all time lived with status quo for his first seven years before he learned what he needed to do to be championship caliber learning to win is a long process it isn't achieved by losing. Greatness and winning is achieved throu blood sweat and tears. There is no quick fixes. There is no shortcuts I even heard Stockton call it the greatest journey If we choose to rebuild it will be harder to teach and learn a winning attitude. Losing destroys a persons will, if no will that means no spirit no spirit no winning.

In response to the question rebuild or status quo I pick status quo! If we go into rebuild mode we will never reach the pinnacle of winning!

Sorry for the rant, but I feel very strong about the subject.

The version of tank that GS did was highly offensive and immoral, especially if you were a fan of the team that they were screwing over.

Regarding the text, most fans fall into your brother's category. Not only don't they understand the reasons it is necessary to become competitive, but they don't believe that the Jazz are actually doing it no matter how many facts you give them. It's really a pointless discussion because it doesn't really matter if they get it or not.

At that time. I thought a tast of winning was apropriate, and help the young core learn good habbits, and over those two years Al drove me nuts to where I threw in that towel. At that time of my post they weren't ready for big minutes. They now know what it takes to win, and after this year we will sign better players and hopefully a superstar. Starting them two years ago would've been career suicide for all four of Favors, Kanter, Hayward, and Burks. I appreciate all that Al did to help the bigs back then.

Nice try Hack. Job not acomplished. I even went on a tirade a few month back in the middle of last season explaining this and how it was time to rebuild. Two years ago it wasn't time to go full rebuild.

There is a difference between rebuilding (not immoral) and not using the tools you have to win (immoral tanking). Losing games that you have the ability to win by making specific decisions detrimental to winning is indeed immoral. Giving unproven assets the ability to prove themselves and having them lose during the learning process is not the same thing.

Look, if Hayward, Favors, Kanter and Burks were what some of us homers dreamed they were (fans like me) then we'd be 7-0 right now. No one is stopping them from being all-stars and future hall-of-famers but themselves (and Corbin). They are showing us what they've got and who they are. It's a tough pill to swallow, but if they were better we'd be winning. Maybe they'll get their **** together and figure out how to win at some point. Maybe they won't. I've said all along if all we have now is a pile of **** then there isn't a pick high enough to make the Jazz a contender. While it seemed like we were in a win-win it's also possible that we were in a lose-lose. Either we were a little too good to get the pick we needed to be championship caliber or we aren't good enough for the pick to make the difference.

Why wasnt two years ago the time to rebuild? We would just be further along in the process. We could have traded Al and Millsap for equal length, but garbage contracts for picks. I bet you anything we could have obtained at least one first for Al and one for Millsap, if not more. In the process we could have been drafting higher and obtaining more assets. Also probably would have pushed GS out of the top 7 and cashed in on an 8th overall pick. And we also wouldnt have had to pay that pick to Minnesota because we would most likely be a bad team still.

What did it accomplish to push for the middle ground those two years? It was a waste of time.

Maybe in the end it turns out for best because we get Wiggins or some other star, but it still dont change the fact that it was a stupid approach and a waste of time.

Nah, man. It's my phrase. I was the first person to ever use it on jazzfanz.

So you don't believe in Freud?

I kid... dat phrase doe.

Oh. And I still believe what I wrote two years ago. Thanks hack for making me look good:)

It sure doesn't sound that way. Nowhere did you touch on what makes a "moral tank". You categorically reject the idea in entirety. You've hopped on the tank bandwagon and that's ok. As Jazz fans we aren't used to the shame that comes with the depths of the lotto, so it's hard for us to turn ourselves into one of "those teams". Even if it is for just one season.

PS Keep this in mind as you try to help your brother see the future. He probably just can't stomach the thought of it.
