Marvin and Jefferson for Rondo and Wallace

On the other hand, if the Celtics decide to trade Rondo away, this means they are committing to a full-scale rebuild. In that case, they will most probably try to pack also one of the big contracts they have in papers for the next seasons. Gerald Wallace and his $10.1 million contract is the strongest candidate while Courtney Lee, who is owed $5.2 million this season is another one. Trading one of these two players away will give the C’s a big cap relief and will boost their chances to acquire solid pieces for the next few seasons. But which team will be willing to receive Wallace or Lee together with Rondo?

I know wallace is a lot to eat but this way we are essentially giving up two players for one. With the upside of rondo healing and being a nice asset next year.

Celtics will want a pick. And no thanks anyway.

A pick for what? Us clearing up cap space for them and taking an injured player. They can't rebuild around rondo and they know it. They want to get a player in the draft but they are more than capable of luring free agents. I think they are desperate to clear his contract(wallace) they just don't want to look that way. We won't be using the money that we would spend on wallace in any meaningful way anyway. Might as well buy losses.

We get to lose a lot and trade rondo in the off season to the highest bidder.

I'm into this more if Rondo is out for the season which I don't think he is. But teams always get some kind of 1st rounderS when trading their franchise players.

wallace has 3 years left on his **** contract though. DL can play hardball.

Bringing Rondo right now would kill the fire we saw from Burke last two games. If they acquire a better 3 point shooter or a better defender that can contribute to scoring at a decent level for one or two of the Marv-Jef duo, that could be understandable and probably a win situation. It's a nobrainer that those two won't play like that forever.

Would be a steal for the Jazz but I don't think the Celtics would do it simply because there's a projected $60M salary cap next year and 90%($54M) is guaranteed. With the current roster they have $50M guaranteed for next season but they'll tinker only a little bit unless they can score assets with Rondo. Why would they give up Rondo for nothing when they can sign 0 free agents and have to pay the money anyways(It's just split between the other players this way)
