What's new

I don't see how Kanter can succeed as a Jazz

If i were Kanter i would not resign with Jazz after next year with the way how the management has dealt him. He started the season with 18/10 but then after a few bad games without a real PG, they decided he "cannot" play with Favors now he is getting 12 min a game. Because we are now winning with Trey, they just assume that Kanter relegation to bench is the right move, how about letting Kanter a try to play with a legit PG?

It will be fun to talk about Kanter when he is putting up 20/10 with another team in a couple of years

he'll never be any good without any playing time .... seriously marvin williams over a top lottery pick ... FIRE THE COACH!

Just like we talk about Boozer, and Milsap, and Al Jefferson.

Kanters highest value is that people still believe he is a 20 and 10 guy. Trade the asset.

but then you got to think ... who would we trade him for? and if we wanted a vetrin center then why not have just kept Big Al? .... I think he can be a star giv'n the right coach and system ... he looks alot like Dirk in dallas years ago ... only differnce is Dirk had a coach that belived in him and gave him a chance .... seriously he has little to no chance with Corbin and co ... neither does Alec Burkes

It's a combination of things with Kanter - first off, he's obviously not 100%. The bad ankle is killing him because he still wasn't game shape from his shoulder injury. He's missing shots that he hit in his sleep his first couple of years. He's slow/less physical on defense - he's not working on the boards like he used to and he's late to spots on help defense (not as bad as Okur was; but still pretty bad). Sometimes it looks like he's playing not to get hurt.

I think all the losses have taken a bigger toll. Remember he never got to play in Kentucky - so he has no frame of reference for what it likes to be a main piece of a winning team. And as a #3 pick, he spent the first 2 years in the league as a back-up matching against inferior talent night after night. Kanter might have gotten a little too used to his role as the lovable goof-off backing up Big Al and now that's he's expected to put up numbers every night he's having a trouble grasping what that requires.

Favors went through the same thing a little bit earlier in the year and I think he snapped out of it. I have every reason to believe Kanter will as well.

Making mountains out of molehills. Kanter is not playing well for whatever reason and more importantly he and Favors did not click together. He is going to be just fine and he will get minutes as the year progresses.

Like many of you. Kanter is my favorite player on this team, and I too know what he can do (at times). But I can't be biased because of that. I have to call how it really is. And right now he is playing like crap. The biggest issue I see now, is his defensive woes are exposed big time when he comes in for Favors. It's proof of how bad he is defensively when he doesn't have Favors to back him up. On the flip side, his offensive game is being rushed. Instead of letting the game come to him. He is trying to do something positive right away and in turn is causing turnovers and taking bad shots. But I knew this year he wasn't going to dominate like many of you believed he was going to. He is still so young and still new to the game. I too wish he could play more. But my love for this franchise makes me take a step back and realize he isn't helping the team right now. I'm positive that one day he will. But until then I have to be okay with him not playing as much as I think he should.

His offensive game is being rushed, because he sensed that the coaching staff has no confidence in him, doesn't allow him to play through mistake or struggle. He is so eager to produce to stay in the game. How can a guy who was putting up 18/10 in the beginning of the season playing 30+ min to now just 12+ min, I am sure if you were him you would be little flustered too. Point is that Corbin and his crew really sending the wrong message, and i don't think Kanter will ever be used and developed here properly. Better to ship him now.

Dunno how you can't see it. I think if he makes good plays he can be successful

It's probably worth pointing out that against OKC, when he sprained his ankle, Enes had 22:24 of playing time through the 3rd quarter, and played the first 2:15 of the 4th before getting injured. His minutes may still be limited because of the ankle (and shoulder), not just because he's playing like garbage. Dallas is the only pre-ankle injury game in which his minutes were cut (even though he was brought off the bench against OKC).

****ing fanboys...

This.

Right now everyone getting minutes is looking better cause we have a point guard now.

I say start kanter again and see how he performs with burke

I believe he would look alot better

Hayward struggled 5-6 games in a row but he still got the same minutes!

Kanter struggled 2-3 games and he has been moved to bench directly!

This guy some call a coach has favorites. It was visible in the past...

Kanter is coming off shoulder surgery and a sprained ankle and doesn't seem like he is in as good as shape as last year. I hate to say this, but the Jazz look soooo much better with Marvin playing the stretch 4 than Kanter and Favors jamming the middle.

The problem is that Favors and Kanter are both 4's. Kanter is not 6'11", he is 6'9" and struggles against long 4's and really struggles against centers. The Jazz have been patient with Kanter, but how much rope are they going to give him?

At draft combine he got measured 6'9.75" w/o shoes and 6'11.25" in shoes. So size is not the matter with a 7'1.5" wingspan. Kanter's body and mobility says he's a 5 defensively. I wouldn't even scorch him for his individual defense, as the whole defensive concept by Corbin is trash.

I think you're exaggerating but the quintessence is true I think. Last year I wondered often why the two young guys were receiving so little playing time. Especially in games when the veterans struggled and the young guns clearly were playing well and taking advantage of their opporunity.
With this guy on the sideline Kanter won't develop properly. Something irrepairable happened apparently.

Kanter-Favors would have started anyway. Evans and Williams can't guard David West.

Think about that again and try to put yourself into Corbin's situation ;)

if available marvin will still start against david west but it's almost a guarantee that kanter will get more minutes against a traditional pacers lineup

I'd sit Marvin and let the heel rest while getting Kanter and Gobert some valuable minutes against one of the top teams in the league. Win or lose, I'd like to see how those two respond to this matchup.

Marvin needs to be traded while his value is high, and that goes out the window if he gets injured.

I don't see how he can succeed as a musical genre either.

But yea, Corbin is not a smart man.
