Kobe means advertisement and attendance so I don't think the Lakers had second thoughts in giving him the deal even if they knew this was gonna happen. Getting older and having injuries more and more frequently must be a terrible feeling.

In fact, I suspect that Kobe will be hard pressed to score another 100 points TOTAL before ending his basketball career! He's as busted up as you can be! He's fat, out of shape, old, slow, and nobody is going to cut him any slack on defense, since he was such a buzzard to them in his prime!

Bottom line, that extension got rid of any chance Kobe had at winning another title. It's his own fault. If he was serious about winning another one, he should have taken less money.
