By some simple precautions we have a great shot at landing a level of player that only comes around every several years. Those guys=championships. Two, I can see (and it happened with Bird and Johnson, later with Olajuwon and Jordan). However, you don't get 6 extremely rare players in a single year. Some of it will turn out to be hype. At least 3 of the six will not live up to the hype, and 4 will probably never be the best player on a championship team.

Training is improving at all levels. I have no trouble believing that there are 6 prospects as good as Bird/Johnson/etc. were considered, because the improved training is making that level of talent easier to bring out. However, there will be other drafts this decade with prospects as good as any of these 6 (or at least, all but 2 of them, perhaps).
