Falling out of love with Al Jefferson

You know what is funny? He makes the same amount as Boozer over the next 3 years.

And after those 3 years, we are in the same situation as we were with Boozer. He is 28 and wants a 6 year max deal.

I'm not saying I won't give him a chance, but by the all star break if he hasn't drastically improved in at least a couple of those areas I mentioned above, I will be seriously disappointed. I just worry that, at his best, he isn't going to be any better than Boozer.

I don't -and never - wanted to be right about Jefferson. The move at the time seemed lateral at absolute best but have been trying to convince myself that things will work out for the best.

So far, outside of some heroic wins (which he's played a role in, even if riddled with mistakes), they haven't.

So, Al, if you're reading this, GET NASTY. I haven't seen you do it yet.

I don't know what "move" you guys keep talking about. It's not like we made a huge risky trade package for Jefferson. We traded garbage for him and his contract is absolutely not toxic. We could easily trade him now if they really wanted to. But I don't think we will. Eventually he'll fit in here, somehow.

Boozer was gone whether we picked up Al or not. It's not like the FO made the choice of Jefferson over Booze. Since it's not my money, I'd much rather have Jefferson than Koufos and a future pick.

Is Boozer averaging more rebounds than Al Jefferson this season? Boozer must be tearing up the Eastern Conference. Anyone want to post his season averages for us? I can't remember....

I haven't watched this game yet.

But it sounds like Jefferson cost us bigtime.

I'm sure this loss has NOTHING to do with our bench. Both rookies played nothing... Fess only played one minute...

I'm also positively certain that this loss had nothing to do with our starting PG chucking up 6 three pointers as if he were playing for the Warriors and only making 1 of them. While also allowing a cheating Tony Parker dump 24 points on his head.

I'm also sure that this loss has nothing to do with our Max player shooting 30% with 4 turnovers.

Or with Millsap only getting 11 shots.

Or that SA is freaking 10-1 (ahead of the lakers. their only damn loss was to the hornets, a team who they're currently tied with for the #1 record in the league) and looking stronger than they've been since their last championship.

All well!

Who needs to look at any of the aspects of the game when we can blame everything on Al Jefferson?

I've heard that now he's getting a divorce regardless, he's started texting some chick called Eva, telling her how much he loves LA.

parker is such a dumbass.

who the hell would cheat on Eva Longoria?

A better question is, who is better than Eva? I mean... Seriously. Off the top of my head I cannot think of a more beautiful woman on this planet. She's amazing....

How many rebounds did Boozer get tonight?

Al will be fine. Right now, he's averagin 16 and 9. He's had some pretty good games (27 pts on 60% shootin vs. Toronto, and 15 boards with 16 pts against the Warriors). He had 15 pts (7-15), 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in the close come-back win over Atlanta a week ago. He's had 3 blocks in two different games. He's had 5 games with 0 turnovers, and is only averagin 1.5 to/game. He's capable, how quick summa yawl forgets, eh? The first two happened to be the first two games of the season. So what happened since?

He's been tenative, that's what. Both Sloan and Deron (and Al himself) have noted that he's a perfectionist, afraid to make a mistake. He's wants desperately to please the coaches, the fans, and his teammates, and doesn't want to let them down. He's thinkin too much, exacerbated by the lack of familiarity with the Jazz system, in particular, and any real kinda system at all, in general. He's puttin more pressure on himself than he should, and is missin shots he would make without a second thought, if he wasn't always havin second thoughts while on the floor.

Give the boy some time. He'll relax eventually, kick *** and take names.

Hey, there was one play where he got hosed big time by the refs that they showed in slow motion. He made one of his turn around push shots on Duncan and not only did Duncan push off on him but then fell backwards to make it look like Al made contact and the refs fell for it. Al never touched him and just went straight up. But it was his fourth foul and after that the Spurs seemed to take over the game.

Our starters lost this game plain and simple. The bench came in in the 2n quarter and got us back into the game then with 6 or so minutes left and the Jazz down 2 Phil put the starter back in and they did nothing on offense while watching the Spurs score on almost every possession.

Jefferson was horrid and Bell was terrible.

Parker got almost all of his points while Deron was either doubling Duncan or Ginobili or just plain got screened out of the play. The bigs Millsap included just got owned against the Spurs.

Deron was a ball hog in this game though, but with none of the other starters doing **** I really have a hard time blaming him.

I was thinking most of the same things, in the game thread I mentioned that I wonder if Bell and Jefferson should/could somehow be in separate lineups as much as possible or at least when playing like they were last night clearly the two weakest links on the team.

First off this board is a complete joke when the Jazz lose. Second, why does the "God" Gordon Hayward get a pass for the first couple games but Big Al doesn't. Third, the system the Jazz run will take awhile for Big Al to get accustomed to, probably will have it down by the all star break.

If you guys thought Big Al was going to be better than Booz right off the back your stupid

I still like big Al and think he will improve I'm just disappointed at the team for their lack of rebounding and being the C and PF big Al and Millsap should shoulder a lot of that, at the very least keep your man from getting the rebound and let somebody else get it, if the guards or whoever doesn't then it falls on them but at least you kept your man from getting it.

Hear, hear!

Despite me lacing into the Jazz and Big Al last night due to severe inebriation, I think I'm with you when I'm sober.
