What's new

hayblurbs injury still a blessing in disguise..

The other difference was a few of them were capable of legitimately stepping into the #1 role as needed. We have seen that a bit from Hay and Burks so far, but neither of them compare to Prince or Hamilton really. Is there anyone here who wouldn't take championship Prince/Hamilton over Hay/Burks right now?

To me that team was not about prince and hamilton as much as it was about chauncy billups and rasheed on offense and ben wallace on defense.

I think rip and tayshon were the role players of that team

Oh they were, but in reality that is what Hayward and Burks are for us. Neither one is a top option, realistically, and both Hamilton and Prince had games they took over that year to help them win, in their own way.

The 2003-4 Pistons team was made of #2 and #3 type players. Very good, but not great. They played as a team and had very complimentary players.

While I think we do need another piece, I think a coach that can get this team to jell and play good D is even more important. We also need two good point guards.

All Im going to say is 2003-2004 was a weak era, like Numb said.

Hayward HAS to go.. no option here. This guy wants superstar money, and I just dont see him made out for that. If Alec Burks develops a mid range game, can bury the 3 consistently next year.. sure, give him the $. Hayward is in contract year for us at the absolute worst time.

I want Hayward back. But if Lindsey estimates his RFA offer is 13 plus, he has to look to deal him.

Please see my sig.

i seriously think we could grab Boston's 1st rounder.

But boston and cleveland have about the same record, so if we can get clevelands first rounder and a young cheap player then isn't that a better deal?

(though maybe we dont want the player cause he might hurt the tank?)

If Hayward and Burks aren't the top options on this team who is?? Who do you think is their top options?? Both Alec and Gordon have put this team on their backs for wins, and will continue to do so.

Not right this moment. Of course they are now. I mean of a contending team, one that actually has a shot at a championship. Neither Burks nor Hayward will ever be the player that wills their team to tough playoff wins and drives them to a championship. If we are going to settle for either of them as the long term top option then we are settling for a 7/8 seed or 14th pick for the long-term.
