What's new

what is the goal?

problem is we are winning most of the games on the backs of marvin williams and jefferson.

2 guys who wont be here next year!.

is that the goal.
wasnt that the goal alst eyar winning the backs of big al, millsap and the williams bro.

if this years goal is winnning on the back of the vets. wouldnt keeping millsap and carol. made this a 500+(possible playoff team with horny as coach).
is it development? if it was development we would not play williams at 4. and tru core5 for atleast 10-15mpg together.
is it tanking?does not seem like it
is it defensive improvement? GHA not really big als team has betetr team defense.

so yeah WTF is GOING ON!

But the younger guys are learning not only how to play, but also how to win! Thats ultimately what's most important. That's where guys like Marvin and RJ come in handy. I know it's not popular, but it is what it is.

well they have been learning how to win for 3 years now. from the great big al. etc etc etc.

how many eyars do they have to learn to "win"

educate me pleace.

and what have jazz won.

since corbin ecame coach(same time favors came in. and hayward.

jazz have lost more games then won.

got emberassed in the playoffs in 4 games.

corbin is not teaching these guys how to WIN.

so if the goal is to win. again NOT SEEING IT!

Well come on Dutch. Nobody expected the Jazz to win much this year. That was by design. So when they do it's a big deal. When they come close it's semi-news.

and last year?
the year before that.
how many year does it take to learn winning.

Popovich would have had this roster at 4-5 seed for 3 years now.

HOW LONG DOES LEARNING TO WIN TAKE.

NOT SURE IF YOU ARE SERIOUS!

The years between DWill/Booz and now have all been about asset acquisition. Winning games in the process is a bonus. I trust that this current group of young guys will be playoff contenders sooner rather than later.

Props to Marvin and RJ for how well they are actually doing but they ain't doin the heavy duty! In the 13 wins RJ is 5th in PTS and 4th in AST. Marvin is 6th in PTS and 4th in REB. Not one of them has a higher USG% than the core5, Marvin doesn't have a higher REB% than the two big fellows and RJ doesn't have a higher AST% than the other 3 of the core5. The heavy duty was done by the core group. Yes, RJ and Marvin are doing great and they may even exceed our expactations but they are complementary pieces.

I actually hope that Marvin re-signs with the Jazz, because he is a good complementary player. But Jefferson ain't coming back and his playing time is coming at the expense of Kanter and Burks.

Once again the Jazz are heading for the worst position to be in -- miss the playoffs and a 10-14 pick. Hell, the Jazz are on the verge of passing the Lakers in the standings.

Well that indeed is true but my comment was more about because of whom we're winning. But yeah more PT for Enes and Alec!

If 27 minutes a night for AB and 25 minutes a night for EK is not enough to develop them they don't belong in the NBA.

Yes but its not just about development..... they are ready for larger roles and more minutes now.

They are already devolped to the point that they are better than marvin and jefferson

People do realize that we are in the marshmallow part of our schedule, right? We are going to win games and our players are going to look good doing it. In the last couple of months, our schedule tightens up considerably and we are more likely to have injury issues. If we were bombing games right now it would mean that our core sucked and that the tank would need to last multiple years. I'm not signing up for that. Obviously Kanter looks healthier so his minutes will go up. I'm not really sure that playing a physically hobbled Kanter 35 minutes a game would have accomplished much. As far as Burks is concerned, he still plays the same position as Hayward, and only in the last 5 games has he shown enough that he could displace Hayward for that starting SG position. Jazz have much invested in bringing along Hayward as a SG. For all we know Hayward's injury was a pretext for seeing if Alec could handle the starting SG duties. If he crashed, it would have been easy to bring Hayward back as the starter and Alec doesn't lose face. I suspect that a returning Hayward will see a lot more time at SF which is good because it means we have a legit SG AND SF which we haven't had in more than a decade. I just can't see what the bitching is about right now. Things are pretty good. Maybe not absolute best case, but approaching it.

so our vision of the future was right core 5+ nba coach = playoff+ great defense
