The Golden State Warriors Traded Us an Unprotected 1st Round Draft Pick in the Year 2017...

This about this: all of their key guys, sans Thompson and Barnes, may not even be in the league in 2017.

Since we have enough time to plan how to execute this, I'd like to get something going where we convince their fan base they need to tank that year. Most won't realize they don't own their pick. Get them to do what the Bucks fans did by purchasing billboards in the city calling for a tank. Get their message boards to have tank watch threads, etc.

They won't be able to trade for big players, unless Curry nets them something. So unless they can score big in FA (give me a bigger name than Iguodala that's signed with ten in the last 20 years), that pick looks like it's got some potential.
Just like we dreamed about the NY pick netting us a superstar.

Maybe just don't post in any of the tanking threads or any of the threads talking about draft picks or any of the threads talking about players entering the draft or any of the threads talking about the Jazz.

So if we got a Hayward for taking on trash for a year, in addition to a pick this year and two second rounders later, you wouldn't feel that it had -- in the words I mentioned -- "some potential"?

Didn't mean that at all. I was one of those giving the highest praise for the deal Lindsey made. It was the best option: add assets, including a likely late first this season, enable Utah to get into the lottery (always thought it would in the 6-10 range), reach the salary floor, and not tie up cap space with multi-year deals.

All I'm saying is GS is likely to be a good team for several years. Curry and Thompson are young. Add just a couple others to those two (like they did with Bogut and Iguodala). If Lee gets a little old in the tooth, they can trade his expiring. They can use their trade exceptions this summer. And they'll still have the exceptions they get under the CBA. If Utah ends up with a lottery pick in 2017 from GS, fantastic! But I'm not holding my breath. As I mentioned, we kept anticipating an amazing pick from NY because that team was horrible season after season. We ended up with Hayward: not exactly a "franchise player."
