What's new

Hayward --> Celtics ?

@green: I wouldn't move Kanter in a deal whose value is that speculative. No way.

I don't know if I do it either. Like I said, it's a swing for the fences move for both teams. Both could end up with superstars (Utah has 7 unprotected picks and Boston gets a shot at LeBron) or both could end up Sacramento.

If I was presented with that deal, I wouldn't sleep not knowing what to do. If you could get Parker, Gordon and McDermont...sheesh. That's not bad at all. You now look like this:

Burke
Burks
Parker/McDermont
Williams/Gordon
Favors

Plus you still have 5 unprotected firsts the next three years. That is a pretty damn good team. You now have SEVEN lottery picks, FIVE top 10 picks, a superstar, and FIVE more unprotected picks. Wow.

I'd give Kanter up for that. But if you end up with Vonleh, Harris and Saric...yikes.

Dumbest comment ever. If you have ever heard Dennis Lindsay talk about Gordan he thinks VERY highly of him. I would easily say that Dennis likes Hayward the most out of the young core.

Not so sure about that. Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I'd say you have him beat by 6,000 or so.

Any of you guys think the Jazz may be interested in either Sullinger (Burke's childhood friend) or Keylly Olynyk (Jazz was high on him at the draft)?

Or both? Would BOS do that?

The Boston first for Hayward is a no brainer, but it will have to require taking on Wallace. But Wallace's contract + Hayward is obviously not worth the first alone. Boston has to sweeten that deal. This is a great game of GM chicken that Lindsey can win if Boston sincerely has interest.

Seriously, what is Boston thinking.

Ainge "DL, we want one of your best young players, but we don't want to give up anything for him really, what do you think."

Do they really think they have a chance at Hayward without giving up a first round pick? I don't see anyone on their roster that would be an even swap, and the Jazz aren't going to give up any assets.

That's how negotiations work. I don't care what has allegedly been offered, I only care if there is genuine interest.

If Boston is really interested, they know they're in a tough spot -- they don't have the cap space to make a competitive RFA offer, could easily lose Hayward to a team that does, and Utah can always match, of course.

If they really want him, the better move is to control his rights as an RFA. Other teams in the league will be less likely to overbid against Boston, a team that is more than able to go over the cap if necessary to keep him.

I'm sure Lindsey knows this is part of his leverage, and Ainge's price will come up, but it all depends on how much Ainge thinks he can eventually get Hayward signed to.

Sullinger is undersized and had an injury red flag. Can't see why the Jazz would want him when they have Favors and Kanter already. Olynyk is basically Memo 2.0 with half the rebounding. Not terribly exciting.

Yeah, I'd rather not get more projects.
