What's new

Alec has taken over as our alpha dog.

Burks has played 3 of the worst NBA defenses, especially at protecting the rim. His numbers are kind of overblown as of late.

His last good game against a legit defense was against the Warriors and he had a great game. He stank it up vs. The Mavericks and the Clippers and was mediocre against the Heat.

How did hayward do against those bad defenses?

Hayward is in an offense struggle right now. Why you bringing up Hayward when we talking bout Burks?

Hayward is in a rut right now where he can't even take advantage of poor defense.

Also when he dropped 31 on miami (with 7 assists) it was the most pts any player in the nba had scored against miami all year.
Miami has a good defense i believe

You made it sound like he did good because he played poor defensive teams.

I was pointing out that playing bad defensive teams doesnt automatically mean you play well.

Credit should still be given to burks for playing well in those games

Then he came back and dropped 12 on 12 shots. We still lost the game he scored 31.

Hayward played the better game against the Heat when we got the victory.

So you are saying that burks has the ability to play great against great defensive teams and has the ability to struggle against great defensive teams?
I agree with that.

I think that also describes paul george, james harden, dwayne wade, steph curry, kevin love, etc etc

No, he definitely did good because he played poor defensive teams. Burks is a rim attacker and greatly benefits when a team doesn't have a rim protector or good help defense. How many times the past 3 games has Burks blown by the 1st level of defense and had an absolutely clear path to the basket? Not taking away from him, but some of y'all are acting like he has been doing this every single game all season.

Why did he do good against miami?

Could it have anything to do with his talent?

I'm curious to see how the rest of the season goes. I don't mean to anoint him yet, just happy to see him finally playing well. For the first time in a long time he has looked pretty good for a nice stretch.

Remember how badly we all hated Boozer and Al because they would score 20 per night but give up 25?

So, why are we all jumping on the Burks bandwagon?

There are two sides of a basketball court.

Just one more reason I want him coming off the bench.

Dude, holy crap, no one has said Burks isn't talented. Yes, he can have good games against good teams. You make any observation sound like an attack on Burks, when in fact, it's just an observation. Yes, he has had a couple good games against good defensive teams, but he has had more bad games against those types of teams.

The facts are his recent play has come at the hands of bad teams. If he is playing mostly playoff caliber teams over the same stretch instead of bottom feeders, do you actually think the stats are the same?

During Burks infamous "best game" without Hayward, most his scoring was off assists (5), fast breaks (2), and out of bounds plays (2). The only time your alpha created his own shot was against Randy Foye and Denver's porus defense without JaVale (How horrible was J.J. Hickson that game?).

Corbin obviously made it a point of emphasis to attack Foye (i.e. final play) and deserves most the credit for Burks' big numbers.
