Corbin hates Kanter?

And Burks ... That clip of Corbin and Burks that a poster put up, Corbin making a demonstrative gesture of disgust and Burks with his hands over his mouth to prevent himself from laughing, says it all.

Clearly one pic taken without context or explanation says it all. Clearly.

Plenty of good arguments to be made against Corbin. Please stop using terribly horrible ones.

I think Corbin is frustrated with Kanter. He rolls the wrong ways off of picks, he over commits on defense and runs into pgs and causes silly fouls. He doesn't know how to guard players with length and average centers go off on him, etc. Kanters lack of basketball experience is still hurting him. You can tell he works hard by developing his shot and his offense, but his defense is light years away from where it needs to be. There is a reason we are 1-24 when he starts.

Stupidest stat ever.

Stupidest post.

The only reason Kanter has guarded a pg all year is because Trey can't contain his man, so Kanter rotates to help him. If Corbin played Kanter and Favors together, then Favors would rotate and Kanter would either stay with his man, or rotate to Favors', but then there'd probably still be a whole in the defense because our wings don't rotate; so I imagine you'd blame that on Kanter too.

Average centers go off on Kanter? Well, Kanter is a PF who needs to play positional defense like Dirk, Griffin, Aldridge, Love, etc do. Corbin should know this. Average centers go off on Favors pretty often too.

1-24 because when he starts the team was injured. Favors was 1-15 too, but Favors got to keep his starting gig when Trey, Marvin and Jeremy came back. The other starts Kanter has gotten since then have mostly been without Favors. Kanter has missed one game this year, so calculating his absence is impossible. I guarantee that no Kanter would be just as catastrophic.

I swear, 1-24 stat is the one that epitomizes the stupidity of some of our media/fans.

Kanter is not, and never will be a shot blocker. Favors is not and most likely never will be a great offensive player. The coaches have two complimentary bigs, but they are too stupid to learn how to make it work together. They keep trying to make each of them be something they're not yet, and then cite those reasons for why they can't play together.

Agree.
So take away the games Kanter AND Favors started together. And remember most of those were without an NBA-quality PG (Sorry, JLII and Tinsley should both be at Sunny Meadows playing shuffleboard).

Now take into account WHY Kanter has started the other games: because Favors has a DNP. Of course the team will be weaker when Favors doesn't play, just as it would be without Hayward, Burks or any of the other key players.

Anyone who says that Kanter plays good defense is clearly blind or doesn't watch the games. His basketball IQ is what kills him. Kanter rotates slow, and when he does rotate, ends up running in to the pg and causing fouls. He would be a beast if he could play even average defense.

You're still missing the point.

Kanter's feet are glued to the hardwood, we've always known that, even well before we drafted him: so why do we fault him for it? His BBIQ has grown a lot since coming into the league. Is it where it needs to be? No. Is the BBIQ of anyone's (hayward included) on our team where it needs to be?

Kanter guarding the PG is only possible when the perimeter defense breaks down. Our perimeter defenders need better defense.

No one is saying that Kanter's defense is great. It may never be. What I am saying is that his rotations are better than they were, and with different defensive schemes, they could be adequate. Dirk, griffin, Aldridge, boozer, love are all atrocious defenders, but their teams make it work because of what they do bring to the table.

Kanter needs to play w/ Favors and play positional defense. Malone wasn't a shot blocker, but he had Eaton and Ostertag. Some players just don't have the quickness on rotations.

Instead of Corbin not playing Kanter because he doesn't defend like Favors, maybe he should play more of Enes at the 4 w/ Favors at the 5, and work on the perimeter defenders.

Our team defensive woes are a team problem.

I don't understand what Corbin is doing with Kanter on defense. Last year he had him hedging picks and I thought Kanter did a decent job of pushing the PG away from the basket. This year he has him giving ground to the PG until he is under the basket. He jumps to defend the shot and gives up a basket or an offensive rebound. It's like he is in no man's land.

I agree with you that Ty hasn't used Kanter correctly this year. I think his original plan was to start Kanter at PF and use Biedrens as backup to Favors. Obviously, Biedrens can't play and Ty was forced to use Kanter as the back up Center and PF. Ty's defensive schemes moves the centers out of positions and rotates them to the top of the key. They have to scramble back and usually puts them out of position. I've been encouraged over Kanters improvement on the offensive end. He's kind of a tweener who isn't quick enough to cover PFs and not long enough to cover centers. I think Ty's poor defensive scheme exposes Kanter.
